Thinking of putting a v6 in my 1977 mgb. Has anyone done this or know of a place that specializes in doing this.

It can be done but it's going to take a lot of work and $. You'd probably want to upgrade brakes and suspension to handle the extra HP and weight. I have more experience with Triumphs, but they're body-on-frame instead of monocoque, which makes it easier.

It'd be a heck of a sleeper. Sorry I don't have more direction to provide.

An in-line six out of a Mazda, CX 90 would be awesome.

Haven't done that, but am considering an LS1 swap to my '98 986.

Google will find you a shop that will do that swap for you. Money talks.

Will the transmission hold up to the V6?

Is the Bug Clinic guy still alive? He has done "Killer B" v6 conversions including A/C.

My guess is the tires would break free before you could do too much damage to the transmission but I know nothing of those vehicles other than a high school friend had one.

I wonder which of the modern high hp turbo 4s could go in easy. Seems like a good fit packaging-wise and would be an easy 300+hp

The GM 60 degree motor has been done a lot in all manner of small Euro sports cars. It is an excellent fit, gives a ton more power than stock, and even though the engine is bigger, it is actually a few pounds lighter than the 1.8.

The 60 degree motor was not a stunner in a 90's Camaro, but imagine puting it in a chassis that weighs 1000 pounds less than that Camaro!

Also they sound pretty good too.

They shut down a few years ago. I think he's still alive though.

If you are engine swapping an MG you just swap the trans too. The GM 60 degree came mated to a T5 transmission in many RWD applications. Its not too hard to find.

Most OHC engines won't fit under the bonnet. They are too tall.

I think you should trade it in for a Chrysler LeBaron

Ford Zetec engines are popular swaps
