On average it's about $300 bucks fluid plus labor.

thanks everyone...I have never changed the transmission fluid. Doing that today. will report back. Would it fix it immediately if that was going to work?
It did with the Explorer. Within 5-10 minutes or less of driving anyway. The power flush is as important as new fluid IMHO.

On the 10 speed there is no drain plug like there used to be. So it's a pain in the butt. Have to drop the transmission pan.
Ford taking away the drain plug and also no more transmission stick to check/fill stem is stupid.

Have a link to those two tools you're using?

Well my 10 speed is shifting hard af and when we were under warranty they had to do something to it because of the hard shifting but that didn't really take care of it. 86k miles and I've never changed the fluid. Wonder if the damage is already done. I'm really unhappy with this vehicle overall tbh.
Correct.Sea Speed said:
Thank you. So you just have to dump it a few times to get it totally pumped out? How long does that process generally take you? If I can buy the tools for the cost of the service to diy without dropping the pan I may just have to do that haha
Thanks for this...I'll need this for my T1 suburban because the exhaust crossover goes right over the pan.1agswitchin4lanes said:Sea Speed said:

This is what I use to extract. Just remove the brake bleeder attachment and run the hose in the filler. The reservoir
capacity is small but I bought it really for brake bleeding.

I know I asked about this earlier, but I just cleaned the throttle body on my Expedition, took it for a test run, and noticed a marked improvement in shifting and acceleration.
Damn, both of them?!vmiaptetr said:
Well, just got told my transmissions needs to be rebuilt.
Make sure you get an updated transmission. It's usually CDF drum failure and they updated it to fix the problem in 2022. If you're getting quoted crazy prices for OEM transmissions, I'd at least talk to midnight performance about their built 10R80s. It would be pretty bulletproof after that.vmiaptetr said:
If it's out of warranty, a local shop.

Thanks. My ears are still ringing from the estimate he gave me.

Absolutely no to a Monster transmission, they have been known as garbage for at least 15 years now

I just did a quick search on upgraded OEM's for general reference & that popped up first. I'd ask 1Ags his recommendation for what upgraded OEM would be a good option.
Owner's manual on '23 expedition & navigator calls for LV rather than ULV for some reason. Did it come from the factory with LV?1agswitchin4lanes said:BurnetAggie99 said:

I have been draining from the fill port with a pneumatic vacuum extraction tool and refill with a power filler. Dropping the pan is no fun. I did it once at 60K and then have just been draining and replacing.
Usually get 4-5 quarts out and add in the same amount with the lubegard.
Make sure you are using Mercon ULV. Zero issues at 124K miles.

Asking for a friend. Say you had a 2021 Expedition, with a 7 year, 125,000 mile warranty. Would you worry about any transmission flushes or service? I hear the reputation is so bad on these, I'd be tempted to sell it right before the warranty ran out.
It's been brought into the dealer once, for some sort of service bulletin for transmission clunking out of park and hiccup between 4-5th gear. However it still does this stuff, but so far it's been drivable.
