Need a good, reliable, quality, heavy duty floor jack for my shop. Best brand?
Not harbor freight crap.
Not harbor freight crap.

The problem with HF jacks with a lot of folks is they'll be forever associated with the jack stands recall they had back in 2020 due to a string of collapses - Link
Have they corrected those issues? Probably. And granted, jack stands =/= jacks. But people see them in the same category. And there's a big difference in breaking a Harbor Freight screwdriver and rolling underneath a vehicle with a Harbor Freight product holding it up.

As wild a statement as it may be, HF has some quality tools now, along with the prices to go with it. Quite a few of their tools are coming from the same OEM as the "big names". I picked up a Chief air die grinder last year that's the exact same grinder Mac sells (with a slightly different trigger) for 4x the price.Burdizzo said:BenTheGoodAg said:

For some of us, the problem is with the fact that a lot of Harbor Freight inventory is junk, not just the jack stands. I get that a lot of people buy their stuff for one-and-done repairs, and there is a market for it. I also under the liability exposure with a jack and that a manufacturer doesn't want to make a junky jack. Daytona might be good, but in the big picture I don't hold Harbor Freight in high regard when it comes to quality tools.

HF's jacks are solid.

How long until we see an HF Tools box truck driving around?
Pfft, my grandmother could lift a Boxsteraustinag1997 said:
I have no problem using the HF Daytona floor jack. I use ESCO jack stands. The quality of the jack stand is the bigger issue than the floor jack IMHO.
In fact I lifted my Boxster with one this morning.

What I've taken away from this thread is OP thinks HF jacks are crap while everyone on the AB has a HF jack and loves it. Still no answer on why OP believes they're junk.
