My '21 Titan is due for new shocks on all four corners and I've narrowed it down to two options. Bilstein 5100s or Icon coilovers in front and Icon shocks on the rear. For reference, the truck is an SV 4x4 and is primarily driven on pavement and occasional dirt roads.
I've looked for information on the Titan forums and Facebook groups and the consensus opinion is that the Icon setup is phenomenal, but pricey at 3-4 times the cost of the Bilstein setup. Reviews on the Bilsteins are mixed with some people saying they ride rough and others saying they're a nice improvement over stock. I suspect the people who think they ride rough have lots of preload on the coil springs for maximum lift. I already have a 2" spacer lift so no need to max out the preload, although I would love to get rid of the spacer lift and the Icons would let me do that and keep the ride height.
To further muddy the waters, there's a guy who owns an online suspension components company who is active on the forums and Facebook groups who is pushing the Icons really hard and constantly says how much better they are than the Bilsteins. He's extremely well regarded, very knowledgeable, and has great prices, but I can't help but wonder if the Icons are really that much better of if he's just pushing the more expensive product. I also suspect some of the people who dropped $$$$ on the Icons rave about the performance to justify the cost to themselves.
Anyone have experience with both? If the Icons are really that much better, I will gladly pay the premium for them, I'm just not convinced that the performance difference is worth the price difference.
