here's the deal..
we were rear ended back on 9-29. Guy pulled over immediately and we got video of him, passenger, both vehicles, plates, etc. It was on i-10 in downtown houston so we all agreed to move off the road. He took off. In person and on video guy clearly appears to be drunk including putting a plastic cup on top of his truck when we stopped.
Cops showed up and looked at video. Gave us his insurance info which was Geico. Called them that night and filed claim. Their insured admitted fault the next day.
We take car to lexus that week and Geico has rental set up for us. That was October 3rd.
Lexus gets quote to Geico. 3 parts need replaced and total is $9k. Geico agrees to OEM for 2 parts but not the third (bumper). They want aftermarket. Per Lexus the cost difference is $60. That was October 11th.
Since then we have been trying to get a response from Geico but nothing. Left messages for our main claim contact, the particular person they said was handling the auto claim, as well as his supervisor. NOTHING.
Meanwhile they are paying for a rental car every day.
At this point, I'm thinking this is intentional but that seems stupid. Get the car done and quit paying the rental.
Is this SOP for Geico? I haven't had to deal with a claim in over 20 years so I don't know if this is the way it is now...just Geico or what.
