Strong rumors that hybrid Navigators / Expeditions are coming soon but unclear exactly when -- '25 or '26 seems likely. PowerBoost wasn't specifically mentioned by name but that's what most think it will be...

I think the reveal for the 2025 Expedition is next week. I would hope it translates over as an option, especially since the Toyota Sequoia went 100% hybrid.

Would love for the next update on this powertrain to be a plug-in version for the best of both worlds, even though it means a bigger compromise on ultimate efficiency due to the weight of a bigger battery.

I don't own one, but am in the market because after being without power for 10 days after Beryl I want a backup plan. If my dedicated 7.5kW generator fails (which is surprisingly likely) then I have the truck as a backup.

Will those things have 1200lbs of payload?

PB with any options sits around 1,400 or less payload. Barely enough for 4 adults and a load of stuff in the bed, much less towing anything.

Agree with the other post, just buy a generator and avoid the maintenance headache these things will be down the road.

Anyone know if this powertrain will ever come to the Expedition/Navigator?

Really thinking about switching to an SUV for my next vehicle but I would love to have this powertrain.

Yes. 2026.

I agree, powerboost F150 in anything above XLT were a challenge to option up without destroying the payload rating. But it could be done if you were willing to forgo power running boards, 20" wheels, their extra fancy cargo step equipped tailgate, and the hole in the roof that always leaks they call a sunroof.

They almost needed to go to a "Heavy Half" type rating to buy back the payload, use 8 lug hubs, bigger brakes, etc., but they obviously didn't do that to save costs.

I expect Ford will match or exceed the Sequoia payload, but wouldn't expect them to have the ability to actually pull a heavy trailer because they won't have the headspace under the payload rating for a fully loaded cabin of people and the needed tongue weight.

But none of that will stop idiots from hooking up their 12k lb trailers and actually pulling them down the road. The powertrain has more than enough power and torque to pull heavy loads, but the 1/2 ton chassis/suspension/brakes not so much.

Having the larger powerboost generator and using it after Beryl, a couple things.

First, your standard interlock kit and plug won't work. The house is ground, the truck is ground, so you'll get a grounding error. You really need a special panel put in. Or you can redneck engineer it. I did it, but don't recommend.

Second, it's great for short outages but not great for anything over a couple of days. My house (w/out ACs) went through about 1/3 a tank in 24 hours. So you will still need to find gas. If you need to find gas, you unplug the truck and no longer power the house. This was another issue I ran into. I had work, etc., so would need to unplug to go do that. Well I have to fight to cool the house back down when I get back home. Even if I didn't have to leave, not sure I'd want my truck running for days at a time.

I think it's a great backup option. I wouldn't buy the truck because of it, though. If you RV, use tools where you don't normally have power, etc., than sure.

If you're buying the truck for that, just buy a tri fuel portable generator. (what I'm doing anyway)
