I got sideswiped a while back by a fine, upstanding member of society, who didn't graduate high school and has never had a job. She was driving her mother's car, on which she was a forbidden driver, and she had no license.

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT

The photos don't do it justice: bumper, fender, driver's door are all dented and scratched. The driver's door does not open. Also the trim on the wheel arch, door and tread pad on running board are all damaged. The car no longer drives straight, DLR and side marker lenses are cracked.

Looks like a newish sonata? That info would help with the guesses.

This was the total from the body shop. This did not include a rental for seven weeks, as we own a third vehicle. That would have easily been another two grand or so.

Is your insurance going after the mother for the damages, who obviously let her daughter drive the car without it being insured while she is driving?

Or did the daughter steal the car and is going to jail now where she should be for driving without insurance?
