"During a specific production period"... Oh you mean 2022-2024s, because this is happening to even new 2024s with 7500 miles on them. Toyota trying to save face

So they're joining in with every other full size manufacturer out there?

Sorry, not you Nissan, I just forget the Titan exists sometimes.

If they did that they'd have a two year wait. I'd buy one 100%

At least they're doing it. I wish GM would fix their lifter issues.

No. This is the last production year of it. It's been cancelled.

Can't due to CAFE standards. GM's truck future is the Turbomax 4 cylinder once they kill the 5.3/6.2. They'll just up the boost for the higher trim level trucks

Yup. They've had this in several applications. But Lexus sells less than 10K LS per year. Sales are dwindling as SUVs grow in popularity and it seems like the LS is languishing and ignored. The 01-06 seems to be the peak as far as quality and durability. The LS460 is my favorite but it's terrible as far as durability and quality. The Next Gen went to the turbo 6, and I think it alienates a lot of traditional luxury Q ship buyers that are lol for 8 cylinder power.

Different engine. Different output numbers. Hybrids not involved yet either.

What I've heard is that some LX's are definitely involved

No hybrids though

Same engine as the new GX right? Are the issues confined to the Tundra?

They could at a minimum extend warranty coverage for this issue. Being stuck with a $10K repair bill at 65K miles because of their ****ty engineering is horse ***** The CAFE standards are too, but that's a whole other discussion.

The collapsing lifters have been an issue since they came out in 2008, GM ain't going to do **** to help owners out.

Which is interesting. I can't even remember the last time I saw an LS and that car used to be one of the luxury cars to own.

I gotta say that even though this is super disappointing, they seem to be way more invested in making it right.

I'm a Toyota homer through and through after decades of auto repair experience, ownership experience, and a brief stint performing engine component design for another OEM....but I gotta call balls and strikes here.

This truck is ugly. It has a powertrain that is not exactly desirable for your typical truck guys and gear heads. The fuel mileage is still Toyota-Truck laughably bad. Reliability and durability is all they have attracting customers and they stepped in it bad. And this is on top of the wastegate fiasco. I hope heads roll.

Some of this makes me nervous on the new Tacomas.

I'm not positive if that engine is brand new or not.

The Lexus NX 350, RX350, TX 350, and Toyota Highlander are already using variations of the T24A-FTS that is in the new Tacoma. Could look at their forums to see if there are any issues, but I haven't seen any in general news or youtube vehicle channels
