My wife is selling her 1992 Chevy 1500. It is a single cab short bed with the V6 and manual transmission. This truck was her first vehicle and has been garage kept since she bought it in 2002. It has been a weekend / Home Depot truck for the past 12 years or so and still lives in our garage. The truck isn't perfect by any means, but it's for sure in the top 20% of these trucks still on the road. The mileage is high but it's been maintained like a car enthusiast would maintain their car and starts and runs every time I need to go to Home Depot. It stays on a battery tender and is driven every month.

The AC system was replaced last summer with OEM ACDelco parts - but the blend door just started clicking when I fired it up to take pictures of it. It's an easy fix but the price reflects it. The AC blows cold

The tires have good tread but they are 10 years old. I don't see any dry rot and it's garage kept but maybe one thing the new owner may want to consider replacing.

The rear drum brakes were replaced 2 years ago - maybe 500 miles. At the same time the rear diff gasket was replaced and the fluid changed.

I replaced the grill and headlights a couple years back and they look great

The truck was just inspected and registered in Harris county

The gauge cluster isn't great. The fuel level gauge doesn't work and the Speedo works about 30% of the time. Lots of folks who rebuild them but we just never got around to it.

Anyway the truck runs and drives well, and the body and interior are clean and square. We have the clean title in hand

I was asking 8k but I never ended up posting this anywhere else and other things too priority. Wife is looking to move it now. We'll really take any reasonable offer just want the space in the garage for another project.

Nice truck, I haven't seen one this good in a long time! I always thought power windows and locks came with the Silverado trim level, so can't say I didn't learn something today.

No offense but why do you have the price listed at about 3-4 times the KBB value? Is there something special I am missing here?

Kbb value means nothing with classic vehicles. I have it priced lower then comparable condition trucks on all the GMT400 Facebook groups

It's the fact that it's a single cab short bed truck. If it were a base single cab long bed v6, OP would be asking $2-3k.

Whoever buys it just wants a clean/straight body so they can swap an engine of their choosing.

At the risk of being a complete jerk I have to say what everyone else is thinking when they read this:

Usually, the term classic is reserved for a desirable and somewhat rare vehicle. If this happened to be 100% original, and had like 30k miles on it, someone who lost their virginity in a clone of this exact truck might have enough nostalgia for it to give $5-6k. To 99.9% of the human population this is just a clean 32 year old 2wd home Depot runner that is probably worth $2k since the AC works. Your emotional ties are clouding your judgment. If it means that much to you and your wife you should keep it. It is worth more to you than anyone else on earth. I suspect even at $8k you are pricing it close to, if not over, the original MSRP in 1992. This truck is never going to appreciate in value, ever. The '90 - '93 SS454 appreciated, maybe a clean Z71 has appreciated, since they were the first generation to add a decal for that RPO code, but this truck is not an appreciating asset, sorry.

It's not 2019 anymore for sure. A V8 single cab short bed under 150k miles as clean as this one can go for 15k right now. The market has changed, OBS truck values are going up by the day. Most of them still on the road have been wrecked, swapped, modded and all sorts of stuff. Clean stock ones are pretty rare now days. Folks are just unaware of how the market on OBS trucks has changed, but that's not a huge deal. I posted here to see if anyone wanted it before I throw it in the FB GMT400 for sale groups where I'll get 8500 for it in a day. Two owner trucks like this one with 20 years of maintenance and loads of new parts is pretty unheard of in 2024. If it were a V8 I'd expect 15k. The market on these trucks is wild now.

I was unaware until this thread that a OBS was considered a "classic". I'm aware of the definition of classic but just blows my mind people think a 90s truck is a classic… old man now I guess.

Also, I have a friend selling one with half the miles, 4WD, and in pretty dang good shape for about $5k. I still thought that was high and then read this post and was curious why the pricing was so high. I have now been educated of the niche market for these things.
