Bought a set of tires from Costco online that should be delivered today.

Went to their appointment website but first available date is next Friday.

Anyone know how walk ins work? If I'm the first person in line tomorrow morning will they get them installed fairly quickly or should I just make an appointment and wait?

This is for the Costco on Bunker Hill in Houston if it matters.

Expect to wait minimum 2 hours even if you make an appointment. And minimum 2 hours for every tire rotation or road hazard.

Costco tire center sucks. Should have price matched with Discount. Maybe you still can.

I gave up on Discount a long time ago because they weren't the cheapest and the wait was terrible.

I usually order from an online seller and then find a friendly place that doesn't have a point of sale system to install them.

Decided to give Costco a try since they were cheaper than anywhere else when install was included.

I rotate my own so I really just need the install and then I'm good.

Sounds like I should just make an appointment and plan on a couple of hours.

I like costco tire center but I'd want the 1st appt available whatever day I come in.

I just ordered tires from Costco too and set my appointment for next week. Tires aren't delivered yet but I'd like to do the same thing if it works out well for you. Please let us know!

I also gave up on discount tire. The tire warranty is like 20-25% of the cost of the tire anyway. Then they don't like patching anything that isn't in the middle of the tire (great if you have warranty, buy a new tire if you don't). They always try to get me to buy new tires once they hit under 50% tread anyways. First time not buying through discount so hoping it goes well at Costco

Don't go in without an appointment

Check another Costco.

I've got an appointment at 10:00 am next Friday which was the earliest I could get.

Sounds like I'm better off just waiting on that than waste half a day eating pizza and hot dogs.

They price match and the wait is much worse at Costco. And their techs are incompetent. Plus Discount is everywhere if you have a problem.

Costco without an appointment for a flat took me 3 hours once. With an appointment for rotations I usually get done shopping about the time it is ready.

I've had good luck with discount price match as well. Last year they price matched KO2s for me at the base AAFES tire shop that was still selling them at 2022 prices. Saved me like 50 bucks/tire.

I love Costco. Except their tire center. If you go in for anything without an appointment, you're treated like a leper.

Do you have a truck? There are endless tire shops down Long Point, just 2min from that Costco.

I'd load up and have one of those shops do the swap.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I absolutely despise Costco. Way, way too crowded and I'm not spending 3 hours waiting on tires ever. I've had good experiences with discount tire and when they get picky on my old rigs and won't mount tires for some BS insurance reason I just go to my local shop which is also great and fast.

This.

I like Costco for everything except tires and the way the At&T and solar guys jump out and try to accost you.

I've had no issues with Discount at all. But, I've always made an appointment online - never had an issue with that. Always straight in, don't wait long.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Opening day of deer season last year, I wanted to be in the stand for the evening hunt, but I had a big ol nail in the center of a tire I wanted to get fixed. I had the 1st appointment of the day. I got there early. I left CostCo at 2 PM and probably scared all the deer off for the day.

Took my truck in first thing yesterday morning to try a walk in appointment.

I was the second walk in and the guy said it would be a couple of hours. Once he realized I had a 3/4 ton he said it would be 3 hours because they have to use jacks and stands and not their lift.

Said he would replace the pressure sensors for it taking so long.

I Ubered back home. At 12:15 I got a call asking which way I wanted the white letters. I grabbed an Uber back about 30 minutes later and when the Uber pulled in the parking lot they called me to tell me it was ready right at 1:00.

No idea if I got the new pressure sensors but I'll find out soon enough as one was going out on me.

Thanks to TexaAgs, I had proper expectations so I don't have a problem with how long it took as I was prepared.

I saved a couple hundred bucks over every place else and if I got free pressure sensors, even better.

I won't use them for any issues unless major to take advantage of the road hazard that's included with the price. I think road hazard is a waste of money but if something catastrophic happens it was included.

Any minor issues I'm taking it to the local tire place where I'll pay cash and be gone in less than 30 minutes.

My appointment is in an hour. Hoping to have lunch across the street and then pick up a few things at Costco during the wait.

Done in an hour. Did not have to wait in line. They didn't seem busy in Cypress but that's probably what the appointments are for (and so you plan to shop). Will be buying from there again
