I bought a 2022 F-150 last February. For months all was well. In the last couple months I keep getting the "System off to save battery" message. I'll admit that I don't drive long distances very often. The dealer says the battery is good. It seems to have started doing this after the last system update. If it was truly an issue with me not driving enough wouldn't it have happened a lot sooner? I drove it for about 6 or 8 months with no issues.

This is a daily driver for me. However, it is only 2 miles from my house to my office. I drive that distance 4 times a day with the occasional errand thrown into the mix. About once a week I drive to Bastrop (15 miles).

The closest Ford dealer acted like they had never heard of anyone having this issue. When I search on the internet I see all sorts of people complaining about this exact issue and even more proposed solutions.

I connected a trickle charger to it overnight several weeks ago and it worked for a couple days before the message appeared again.

Aside from replacing the battery, do any of you know of a solution for this?

Check out this video from FordTechMakuloco. I watched it the other day and it sounds applicable to your short commute issue.

This is a great thread, I just saw that warning today on my truck. I have frequently seen the low power indicator, but just an hour ago, I got that popup on the nav screen.

On my 2018, my auto stop/start stopped working until the day I drove from Waco to Amarillo, then it started working again.

This was the case for my wife's '19 Expedition. Auto stop/start wouldn't work and the touch sensors on the doors (except driver) wouldn't function. We'd take it to San Antonio and back, and all was right for a few days.

Finally broke down and replaced the battery (it was time) and now those things all work. I'm sure it was a voltage issue in the BMS.

Check fuses for proper seating.

Likely the battery is toast.

Agree battery is dead. Happened on my PB and finally got the dealership to replace under warranty (load test?). Much better now (was also causing some other 'bugs' with the truck).

edit: like 1ags said, check to make sure all the fuses are pushed down, especially under the hood. many of mine weren't seated properly.

Did they go up in size or the same?

Mine is starting to give the chime in the cluster instead of the speakers. I haven't tested it yet , and suspect it's failing. And they'll probably give me grief since I have the amp power steps on the Battery terminal. I'll see what happens. May be cheaper and less hassle to just spring for a battery myself.

I looked under the hood and didn't find the battery part number on the top (may be hiding on the side). I'll see if I can pull it at some point and getter a better understanding.

From the invoice, this appears to be the part number:
BAGM*94RH7*800

Also from the notes in the invoice (if it helps with troubleshooting):
performed pinpoint test E in pcm
E2 ppt states check battery, battery was rotunda tested and failed rotunda test

I had this happen early on with my 2022. Dealer replaced the battery and no issues since.

I just checked all the fuses. All the ones in the cabin were good. It felt like almost all of the ones under the hood were not quite mashed all the way down. Each one felt like it moved just a bit when I pressed them.

I know my truck sat for a very long time on a lot somewhere due to the chip shortage. I ordered it on May 5th, it was built Sept. 28th, and it arrived at Appel Ford in Brenham on Feb. 2nd. I wonder if sitting for a little over 4 months affected the battery?

My truck was at the Ford dealer in LaGrange a couple weeks ago and they said the battery was good.

In my opinion, yes sitting for 4 months probably affected the battery negatively. You can pretty much guarantee that Ford didn't follow their own instructions for long term storage.

My truck sat for 7 months and a new battery finally made it feel new.

I am in the same boat as you with battery issues, same daily driving, and also a 2022. From what I have read most of the time it is a weak battery but it may take several trips to the dealership for them to replace it.

I think some of it has to do with the factory set battery management system state of charge The BMS will apply full charging from the alternator up to about 80% of the battery's targeted SOC voltage. At 80%, it tapers down the charge, removing some of the load off of the alternator for the sole purpose to save gas. It's called Smart Regen Charging SRC. I have read changing it to a target rate of 95% has helped some people.

It also doesn't help that batteries put in a lot of these trucks are not even what Ford recommends for the higher trim levels. The battery in my 2022 F150 Lariat is a 760 amp. Ford's literature calls for a 800 in anything above an XLT.

Similar scenario, except a 2021. I was getting the message on the app, then on the dash when turning off the car. Trickle charged overnight and it went away for about a week.

I had the battery tested at Autozone and they said it was good, but just at 45% charge.

If I'm interpreting this thread correctly, I need to take it to Ford and have them test it under a load? Or just replace anyway?

I have 2022 f150 Tremor and I have been having issues with the battery. For 6 months or so I would get the power savings mode notice occasionally. I moved the spot where I store the keys further away from the truck and I stopped seeing the welcome lights set off my driveway camera every time the neighbors cat walked by. Once I did this I don't think I saw the power savings warning pop up. I got the software update couple weeks ago and I am constantly getting the power savings mode notice. On Tuesday none of the lights on the inside turned on when I opened the door and the battery struggled to start it. I let it run for few mins and battery only had 12.4v. Cold shouldn't cause that much of a voltage drop so I have parasitic drain or battery is failing. My cameras picked up my headlights flickering at 2am last night. I am dropping it off at Tommie Vaughn next week for some recalls and will get them to check that too.

I'm an idiot. It's a '22. Had built, completed in May 2022.

I have a 2019 F150 XL work truck. I've been having this issue since about early Nov. I didn't do anything about it because it's about time for me to turn my truck back in.

I don't think it's a bad battery causing it. It's some sort of electronic issue. I've had all sorts of weird stuff going on with the radio turning off / on at random times. Battery symbol pop up, etc. Truck still starts no problem.

Then I started to pay more attention. The radio would turn off when accelerating, and turn back on when braking, either coming off the highway on an off ramp, or when sitting at a stop light.

Finally, the other day I disconnected the battery cables. It's been working perfectly ever since. I have no idea how long it will last, but I plan to turn my truck in about a week from now.

Does disconnecting the battery cables do some sort of hard reset of the Battery Monitoring System?

I have no clue on this... other than it seems to have fixed it.

Even when I started the truck, the gauges would go crazy, then the radio would turn off within minutes of leaving the house, but then would come back on when stopped at light. When it came back on, I couldn't change the station unless I turned off the radio and back on. Nothing would work. The truck would drive just fine though. Everything is working as normal still after the battery cables were removed and reconnected.

My 2022 which I will have had for 2yrs next month has been giving me this message for probably 8 months. I just have been lazy in replacing the battery. I suspect one day I'll go out and it won't start

I guess I could read my warranty, but, it is much easier to just ask you guys.

Is the battery covered under warranty? I haven't had my truck for a year yet and it seems I should not be paying to replace a battery already.
Ruhro

The battery is covered under warranty. The question is will the battery fail the dealerships test in order for them to replace. I have had buddies and read about people who have this issue and the dealership determines that there is nothing wrong with the battery and it ends up just being a waste of time.

I have not had good luck with dealerships and warranty work in the past so I simply opted to spend the $180 and drop in a larger M8 battery.

3? No but the hassle of a dealership visit isn't worth the cost of a new battery. Just like you said

Ford replaced the original battery and now that one is having the same issues. I guess I am going to just replace it with a much larger battery. This seems really stupid on the part of Ford.

Sounds like you got a draw somewhere. I'd get ahold of a multimeter, disconnect the ground lead and the put the meter on amps between the battery post and the ground lead.

Timely thread bump.

I posted in this original thread and ford did replace my battery under warranty. All was fine.

Fast forward to Christmas and I got a dash cam. I got the adaptor to plug it into the obd for constant power. Shortly after I started getting the weird tones when backing up, radio shutting off once I turn off the ignition, etc. Haven't gotten the ford pass low battery warning yet, though.

Should I look for a different route for the power supply to the dash cam? Is that that big of an issue? Or will just buying a new battery fix it?
