Noticed our 2015 Yukon having some issues and took it to Christian Brothers. Said they found metal shavings when draining a sample of fluid and suggest replacing the transmission. Quoted me $7,600.

Anyone have a recommendation on places to try and call for quotes?

Get a second opinion, metal shavings were likely next to the pan in a salt shaker before they sprinkled them in after "testing".

Brinkkoeter's did a great job rebuilding a transfer case for me several years ago.

They came highly recommended to me.

Called around after hearing similar from somebody else and just booked with them. Good too

Second for Brinkkoeter's. Very knowledgeable, and honest.

What kind of issues and how many miles? You probably do need a new/rebuilt transmission lol

random I know. When I read the title it was the first name that came to mind and when I saw it suggested I had to comment.

'15 Yukon with metal shavings in the pan…. I would almost guarantee it. $7600 is astronomically high though. Should be closer to 5.

125k and it has started to have some rougher shifts, but my wife has described what seems like missing shifts. From reading up on these things, it sounds like a new transmission is very likely the right answer. Sounds like I'm lucky we got past 120k before having to do it.

Called like 3 shops plus a dealer...Surprisingly, most were between $6,500-7,300...

Brinkkoeter's was a shade over $5k and had been recommended to me by a few folks offline as well.

Yeah that's about what I remember them quoting me, and they were by far the most reasonable.

If you plan to keep it for a while, you should have a reputable tuner calibrate the transmission. Without doing so, the new transmission will undoubtedly suffer the same fate further down the road.

Also ensure that the torque converter is replaced, I'm sure it was TCC material that was seen in the pan.

Fwiw, I just had a transmission rebuilt by brinkkoeter. I like the family, but be prepared to wait quite some time. Also, be prepared to call to get updates bc they won't call you. I left my vehicle on Oct 23 and got it back Dec 1.
