Best way to get a second quote for car repair?

Ran over something metallic (looked like a wheel from a trailer without the tire). Went thud thud underneath. I took the car to a Honda dealership to get a quote. They pointed out what was damaged/bent and gave me an estimate. I would like to get a second opinion. Do I take my car to an independent shop and don't mention the dealer estimate, or do I show them the dealership estimate and ask their price?

Don't have comprehensive insurance on this car, so contacting insurance is not an option.

perhaps what is damaged does not need to be repaired since you are driving it and all

Whatever you do don't show them the dealer quote.

Don't ever go to the dealership after the warranty is out. Plenty of great independent shops. (Not Christian Brothers)

What is bent? Does it affect driving the vehicle? Do you have photos?

No, do not have the dealer repair it unless the damage is bad enough to go through insurance.

Where are you located?

Passenger side trailing arm, lower arm, the guard around the fuel tank. The big cover underneath the car is damaged and is making noise when car moves. I did tie it down, but it looks damaged from outside. I was hoping to keep this car to give it to my son next year.

I am in Cypress area. Going to take it to a place next week to see what they say.

that is some minor stuff

you can buy those covers on ebay, plug in the part #s off the estimate you already have in the search box

I don't think you need a body shop to fix those, a mechanic can do it

Telge Automotive is a good place. Robert is the owner.

Thank you. Robert at Telge Automotive was very helpful. Got my car fixed in a day at a very reasonable cost.
