I'm so glad I got rid of my Ford. Aside from the engine crapping out at 163/4k miles, there were a few times over the last 50k miles I had it that I'd shift from P to D, and nothing. When I'd give it some gas, it'd make a clunk sound and shift. Started realizing it was when I was parked on a slight incline and setting the parking brake before letting off the brake when I shifted to park would prevent it. Had the transmission fluid replaced when I had a tune up done on it in June 2021 at around 115k miles when they were calling us back to the office. Didn't fix it.

Is that with ford picking up some of the cost, or are they doing nothing for you?

Dealer didn't seem to think there was anything they can do but my wife is getting somewhere 9n the phone with Ford. So we will see. She is still dealing with them as I type.

Or you can do what I did...trade the ford in for a Toyota.

Glad we kept the wife's 2016 Ford Expedition EL 4x4 Platinum. Currently 185,000 plus miles strong. I've stayed on top of all the required service work over the course of the mileage. Followed all the recommendations 1Ags has suggested. Just put in news spark plugs/Coils, new transmission fluid/filters & differential fluid and new coolant. Also replaced all the belts/hoses. Always used Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic oil with a Wix XP filter & change the oil every 6000 miles.

Ford corporate should take care of you. If the dealer was worth a damn they will help you out and direct you on who to contact

They seem to be trying to help out. I'm trying to figure out why they want to only overhaul it for $4800 and my mechanic said get a new one for $6k. I have history with my mechanic and good dude. I just wonder will we be back here in a yr or 2. That's my concern.

I jist traded a 2019 expy in with 90k on a 2023 Expy

NONE have had transmission issues.

There is a reason why they have a class action lawsuit on transmission issues and reason they are seeming gonna pick up part of the bill on our end pretty easy. So kuddos on your luck with the Expys but that's not the case by quite a few people obviously.

Well Ford came back and said they were gonna pay for the new Transmission with not even a hassle. We pay a $250 fee and that's it. So kuddos for them to stepping up but to me it also states the problems they have with their transmissions as well.

Time to fix it then dump it.

Wife's 2020 expedition transmission has gone to **** in the last week.... barely driveable... 45K miles. Trying to get it into dealership but they're anywhere from 7 - 10 days to a month before they can touch it. The one that was 7 - 10 days said it could be a 4 - 6 week repair. Does that sound right?

That sounds right. I'm in the same boat right now with a 2019 F-150 Raptor. Transmission is missing shifts, hard shifts etc. Also have cam phaser rattle on start up. Mac Haic said they would have to have it for 8 weeks and I would be without a loaner…screw that. Tommy Vaughn said they could get to it in SEPTEMBER! Finally, Auto Nation Ford Katy said they could get me a loaner next week but will be a 4 week repair. This is / was my first domestic brand vehicle (mostly German prior) and will be my last Ford and prob last domestic vehicle. Thank goodness under warranty.

Parents have a 2020 Expy that needed new transmission at 15k miles. Rant over haha

Here's a question

Say our 2020 follows the trend and ends up needing a transmission

And say we get some low end piece of a loaner

Annnd say it takes 6-8wks to fix

That's 1-2 payments. So I have to pay for my expedition while driving a loaner and our expy sits? Or any chance you can get something from ford? Be one think if they gave us an equivalent car.

They may work with you. Need to call corporate and see what they say. Might work with you on repair cost too

Is the check and change procedure the same on a 2019 navigator? It has the 10speed at 65k miles and shifts fine but would like to keep it that way. Anyone have a good video on the easiest way to do it?

Update - Ford dealer has had my 2019 Raptor for just over one month. They said it needs a "transmission rebuild" and cam phasers. Seems that it could be another month (maybe more, maybe less, they don't seem to know). I'm driving an XLT loaner, which i'm glad to have a loaner. Any thoughts on whether Ford corporate gives some sort of customer retention money / credits / etc. for keeping a car for 2 months+? Still new to this domestic car stuff but feels worse than Lotus.
