If so what trim level. Wife and I like the Limited trim, but didn't know much about reliability etc…

We looked at them but passed.

Was talking to the salesman casually and saw 1 or 2 new looking Grand Cherokees in the service bay. Asking him what was wrong and said they were getting new transmissions.

Needless to say, we looked at the car but did not buy one. Chrysler going to Chrysler I guess.

Know someone who is on their second replacement for new ones they couldn't fix.

They are crap.

We have a 2016 GC Overland for my wife's DD that hasn't needed maintenance besides the routine stuff - love it, fwiw. It has all the bells and whistles from that model year, so it is a comfortable ride and is as luxurious as a Jeep gets (of course, my ride is a JK Rubicon, so the contrast is stark between our two vehicles). Can't help OP about what a difference there is with the new L's though...I imagine the extra space is helpful in some circumstances.

My wife has a 2021 Limited. 35,000 miles and no isses. It does feel a little underpowered but I'm used to a Silverado with a 6.2 so I don't know how it compares to its competition in that department.

Not the L, but I have a 2022 GC 4xe Trailhawk and have no complaints. I've put around 2,300 miles on it so far. The hybrid powertrain is a blast to drive, and a tank of gas lasts around six weeks. It could probably go longer if it didn't force you to use gas almost exclusively when it goes into fuel and oil refresh mode. If you don't need the third row and can swing it I highly recommend it.

Wife's '15 overland is nearing 100k with no issues thus far other than maintenance (knock on wood), been a great car for her

Dang I wish I didn't need the third row but I do…seems like a mixed bag with reliability. I drive a 2020 Ram 1500 and it's been nails through 40K miles
