Picked up my '23 Pilot on Friday. AWD Touring in the radiant red. So far, I'm very happy with it. Wish they would have made the back a little more boxy instead of semi rounded, but it's still a heck of a lot better than the previous minivan body style.

I've been driving an '09 Pilot since we bought it brand new. It was time for an update! Now I just have to figure out all the technology, because it's all new to me!

Wife drove the Trailsport on Saturday. Loved it, except for the road noise. Not nearly as quiet as some of the other SUVs she has test driven (drove?). But all Hondas we've ever had were a little louder. The Trailsport had 'A/T' tires on it, would other tires help with the noise a little?

They have a white EXL coming in 6 weeks that she wants. They actually offered us more than I expected on her 2015 Pilot ($13k). They said there wasn't any wiggle room on the price, but it's one of these dealers that offers their own 'package' (including N2 in the tires) and charges ridiculously high doc fees. The 'package' they offer is about $1300 and the doc fees are $600. I told my wife today to make them an offer that eliminated the almost $2k in extra costs.

I test drove a trail sport and didn't notice a huge difference from the other models. I think it sits up a little higher for more off-roading capabilities.

I doubt you're going to be able to get away from the dealer add-ons, I tried and was basically told they weren't optional. (Although I did have one dealer who did remove the add-ons in their quote. I think it was the conroe dealership) But I did get the market adjustment removed.

The the sales guys majorly screwed up on the day we were supposed to pick up the car (paperwork had already been signed) by not telling us about an issue (that he had known about for a couple hours) until we were on the sales floor waiting on the keys. Long story, two manager levels up, lots of drama/talking and redoing all the paperwork a week later, we ended up with an additional $2,000 off and they threw in the trailer package.

What are their issues?

Think I saw this one in the inventory. Did you get it from Allen Honda? Did they do any negotiations?

We wanted another Sienna but Toyota is a cluster right now.

Grrr...the local dealer won't move on their stupid add-ons. The dealership in Idaho is marking up $3k for out of state customers.

Good news is that Carvana offered me 16k (vs 13k trade in).

Found 2 other Pilots that are options, one in Helena and one in Casper, WY. I'll be calling them today.

Olathe Honda is selling at MSRP + $299 doc fee. Call and see what they'll do. Pretty sure anything on there web page already has a deposit but you may be able to get one coming in the next month or so and avoid the add on fees.

Saw my first one of these in person today, it was a red trail sport model, looked sharp. There was a highlander nearby and the pilot was a much better looking vehicle IMO.

The one I found near me in Butte MT (they'll deliver to me about 4 hours away) is at msrp + 299. They won't budge at all I guess they know if I don't buy it, then someone else will when it hits the lot.

Keating Honda in Conroe has a 2023 Honda Pilot in Sonic Pearl Grey for $1000 below MSRP, at least that's what it's showing on their website. I've never been impressed with that dealership, but we still get our maintenance done there. Who knows? Maybe you can get lucky! They're asking $50M for the Pilot.

My biggest challenge with the Pilot is no captains chairs. We wanted those to have the kids in each and the dog in the middle when we travel.

The Trailsport comes with 2nd row captain's chairs, they're an option for the EX-L.

Yeah but from what I've heard about the Keating dealers it is probably about $4K more in 'surprise' fees by the time you drive out.

My wife and I have been looking pretty hard at the Pilots in recent weeks and test drove a Trail Sport last week. Overall, very nice vehicles and big step up from the previous model, in my opinion. So far, the best deal we've been quoted was actually out of Louisiana at LeBlanc Honda in New Iberia. They had a white EX-L AWD that they priced at $47,600 drive out after TTL and $1200 in dealer fees. Most of the dealers in the Houston area were pushing $4k-$5k in dealer fees alone.

How many are serious about buying the pilot soon? Or telluride. Maybe if we get 2+ we can get them to deal. I'm Helping a family member who is between a pilot and telluride. Hopefully test driving the new pilot on Friday at a Houston dealership who says they will msrp without any bs fees….still shooting for something below msrp….

Already so dang frustrated trying to replace my wifes vehicle. Allen Honda is wanting $10,000 over sticker for their pilots. Can anyone recommend a dealership within 1.5 hours of B/CS where I can get one in the next couple weeks, at or near sticker?

Can't speak for Caladan's neighbor, but our '23 Telluride spent over a week in the shop after overheating just idling in the school pickup line. Evidently a coolant hose sprang a leak and the engine lost most of its coolant. That was at 7k miles and there was zero coolant leaked in our driveway. Took over a week to get the part in.

Thanks a bunch! I said screw it and did the "online purchase" on an odyssey at Sterling McCall in Humble. Fairly painless so far. Waiting on the finance guy now.

We're considering pilot or telluride. Was looking at expeditions but ford wants too damn much for those. Test drive the 23 telluride (amazing) and only test drove 22 pilot. Will try the 23 pilot in a few weeks but I really don't like the new look of those, granted 22 was pretty bad too.

Yes - def improved on the new looks but telluride still has the edge on looks.

What I like is that the pilot won't change major designs for a bit seeing it just came out… but what about telluride? New generation coming out in a few years?

Think he bought a Honda minivan.

Wonder if it's worth the wait for the grand highlander for those looking at telluride and pilot…

Put a deposit on one on Monday. Should be here in 7-700 days. MSRP + $299. Dropping current pilot off at Carvana Saturday

Because it costs less to only put a clear coat over the primer and not actually paint the vehicle.

The wife and I test drove a 2023 Elite Pilot last week. Naturally we test drove a lesser version and when we were going to leave they had "just gotten" a 2023 elite in, fresh off the truck. Well of course my wife loved it and wanted it, I agreed.

Sticker was 52k, which I was okay with. But nowadays all these dealerships make you buy this package of crap that they put on it. Tint, nitrogen in tires, anti-theft, etc. All a bunch of crap that I didn't ask for and don't want to pay for.

Well they were like we aren't going to charge you for the mark up pricing that all the other vehicles have, you just have to pay for the package. Well the markup pricing wasn't even on the price sheet, so I told the guy well that wasn't on here to begin with, and I also don't want to pay for this package of crap. I said don't charge me the markup or the package and I will buy it right now.

They said no but keep contacting us asking what they can do. I respond I already told you what you could do and you won't, so quit asking *insert saban meme*.

Great vehicle, idiot salesmen. This is Clear Lake Honda

Yep, sounds about right.

I'm not 100% convinced on buying the Telluride, but feels like every other dealer and company is trying to push me that direction since Fort Bend Kia is the only location I can find that doesn't do shenanigans.

Most of the FT Bend dealers i've visited in previous years seem fairly easy to work with.
