Come hell or high water, my wife is gonna get one. Because a pathfinder or telluride or palisade just won't cut it.

I hear the Pilot's knobs and attachment points are industry leading

Given all the issues my neighbor's Telluride has been through, I'd say she is on the right track.

We had a 1st-gen. Pilot years ago. It was great! Of course, this has nothing to do with a 2023 model........

I think they look better than the previous generation. Had a few Hondas over the years and had minimal issues with them. We might be in the market this year and rather than looking at the latest and greatest from the this segment my wife and I are 90% sure we want a 4Runner. We know they've been around over a decade. It's got an old school engine and transmission, but the old man in me is willing to trade the latest bells, whistles, and better fuel economy for a vehicle that is damn near bullet proof. We will probably test drive one of these nonetheless.

One of my biggest knocks on this, while maybe silly, is the push button transmission. I really despise those. Give me a console or column shifter every day of the week.

We're doin a purchase in the next few months and are leaning pilot. But that's my biggest gripe about them. I can't pretend I'm driving Le Mans with button or dial shifter.

I didn't realize it was supposed to be unveiled on Tuesday.

I'm interested to see what they show as well. I need it to be bigger than the CX-9 in order to take a serious look at it.

All the teaser videos look fantastic so far. Not to mention the rwd and inline 6

Not an expert or not do I fully understand, but I lurk some Honda message boards. The gear heads seem very upset with the new pilot engine. Also, they say not to buy white in a new Honda, apparently it doesn't adhear to body panels and paint isn't covered well under warranty.

We have an 2018. It's been the best car for our family. I issues with it. The engine is strong, awd system is great. We have captains chairs in the second row which are great for my 2 kids. I'd buy it agin without a second thought. I like the looks and interior of the new one too and I will probably end up with one in a few more years. But I urs is paid for and shows no signs of letting us down anytime soon.

Will likely be bigger and a lot more expensive.

I'm currently driving a 2009 Pilot. It's been a great car and I love it, but it's starting to show have minor issues that are adding up. I've been eyeing the Palisade for a couple years and started test driving recently. Was pretty set on that route until the 2023 Pilot came out and no longer looked like a minivan. Test drive one and now I'm in the fence of which one to get (Palisade or Pilot). Just waiting until either one is in stock that checks all my wants.

Is the new pilot noticeably bigger?

No response on the 2023 model.
I put 199,998 miles on a 2010 with no major issues.
I've got 183,000+ on my 2017 with no major issues.
Dealer service has been great with my Houston and College Station dealers.

My wife has the 2020 Pilot Elite and it has all the bells and whistles. The AWD is great when take it skiing in Colorado and it has plenty of power. Zero issues so far.

Not that I noticed. Maybe a little longer, but it wasn't enough for me to measure them side by side.

I test drove a Chevy Traverse and that was almost a foot longer than my current pilot. I parked them side by side to see the difference. I could definitely tell the difference on that drive. But even with the extra length the 3rd row seemed tight.

The new pilots/passports are supposed to have better seats for longer drives, fwiw, per some reviews I've read.
AggieAces06

I have no complaints about the Pilot 3rd row seats or the Palisade's. Both seemed comfortable enough for occasional use.

What also has me looking at these two is then 2nd row bench seating. I'm one of the few who don't want captains chairs in the 2nd row. I want to be able to fit 5 people up front and a ton of suitcases in the cargo area with the 3rd row down.

Anyone else taken a look at the 23 Pilot? They're starting to show up more and more.

I'm still between that and the Palisade. If I could have the center console of the pilot with the display screen of the palisade, I'd be sold. The pilot's screen seems like a bit of an afterthought that just got plopped on the dashboard.

Our 2020 Palisade is having what I consider major issues right now. I don't know if it's thermostatic issues or a software problem but we get intermittent engine overheat alarms and our heat for the climate controls system doesn't heat. Multiple recalls in play… service appointment tomorrow.

I actually just sent a request to get a price on a Pilot elite. Already annoyed with having to deal with Salesmen. All I did was request what the price of a vehicle is and I'm getting hit with "you know cars are in short supply so we need you to act fast" nonsense.

My truck (2013 F150) is starting to rack up some repair bills, and while I know it's cheaper to do the repairs than buy, I think it's getting time to trade for something that better fits where we are.

Looking at the Pilot, new Mazda CX-90, MDX, and maybe the Aviator.

Test drove a 22 service model yesterday. 90% certain on pulling the trigger. We'd have to pay 50k to an equal 23 model. That's not gonna happen.

Palisade or Pilot? Because the 22 pilot is a no go for me. Looks too much like a minivan. I would consider a 22 Palisade for the right price.

My wife was pushing for the odyssey or pilot and since this is going to be my primary I was much more comfortable with the look of the 22.

The '23 deletes vtech in favor of DOHC. For long term ownership, I think the newer electronics generation and absence of Vtech is a good thing. I think they are also all all wheel drive now on the Elites, which helps w/ dynamics (torque vectoring, whatever honda calls it). They also went to a 10 speed transmission, not sure that is a good thing or bad…

I have a 4runner trd pro and the wife an off road premium, they are pretty bulletproof. My wife was hit by a drunk driver last year and totaled the 4runner. She climbed out the back window as it was the only way out, she had barely a small bruise from the seat belt. When the police arrived they had to get my wife to show them how to turn the engine off as it was still running. Can't kill a 4runner!

Wife is going to drive one on Saturday, she loves the exterior, and if she likes the interior and drive, then we're officially in the market.

Any chance of getting a price lower than MSRP?

I'll probably keep her 2015 Pilot as a 'spare' vehicle unless I can sell it down south for more than they'll offer here.

At least at the first honda in austin they were still adding around 1800 to msrp when we went a few weeks ago.

If we end up buying one I settled on the off road premium, looks to have the best bang for your buck. I just can't get over car prices right now to bring myself to buy anything. Every time I price something out I get nauseous just thinking about it. The last vehicle we bought was a Sienna back in 2015 and that was $35k. Anything we are interested in now is $10k more than that.

Wife has a 15 Touring now that we love. Definitely interested in new body style, but there's two problems from what I can tell.

1. The Offroad trim is the only one that comes with true captains chairs and fold down arm rests. We have absolutely no need for any offroad capabilities as my wife is a pavement queen. The Touring and Elite trims come with a bench seat that has a removable middle seat that can be stowed away and leaves ugly anchor hooks exposed in the floor. Why the Elite trim doesn't have an option for real captains chairs is mind boggling.

2. No hitch on the touring or elite trims. Our current touring has a tow hitch and we've used a hitch cargo rack and weather proof bag multiple times for long road trips. We went to Florida and back with six people in the car and eight days worth of luggage on the cargo rack. I'm not buying a cargo bin to go on top of the car and be forced to heave our luggage up on the roof.

If they can give me an Elite trim model with true captains chairs and a tow hitch we'd buy today.

I pulled the trigger on one for my wife yesterday. They didn't have the one we purchased on the lot yet, but we test drove a similar one. Ours should be here this week.

We had a 2011 for 10 years that we put 130k on with no issues. I'm still mad that we sold it. The new one feels much bigger. The ride is great, and it had the right mix of manual buttons and touch screen.

We had a great experience at Honda of Fort Worth after dealing with what felt like 20 other dealerships. They were 100% straight forward on all costs associated with the purchase via email before we ever went in. That was not something I encountered a lot of in my search. I did agree to pay MSRP plus about $1k in add one after they agreed not to install LoJack when the car arrives.

I hate paying MSRP and ads ons, but that's the market today on a vehicle in short supply. Ultimately, an extra $1k was worth not having to continue my search, and they were excellent to deal with. I just hope this one will be as good a car as the last one. It has to last another 10 years since we have 3 kids headed to college in the next 4 years.
