2018 F150 Transmission Problems

Whelp, after a life of hard shifts and searches for what gear to go to I think my 10 speed POS is about to give up the ghost.

I had been having hard shifts and it recently started shaking shifting out of first. Gullo Ford said PCM flash will fix, I said yeah right and here we are a few weeks later and my truck is basically un-drivable. Loss of power for 20-30 seconds upon shifting out of first is what I've dealt with all day today.

Anyways. 1ags bat signal. Which Ford shop would I have my best luck at with ****** issues in the Montgomery County area?

A coworker of mine has a '19 f150 with 110,000 miles (he bought it new) that grenaded it's transmission. His Ford shop recommended talking to Ford corporate about it and they ended up paying all but $1,200 or so for a new transmission. Total cost was around $9k I believe.

I'm still in warranty. Just want a good good ford shop as Gullo has disappointed me in the past and now claim their transmission work is backed up to July.

Not good to hear. I have a 2018 and get the power loss out of 1st but usually only 1-2 seconds.

Everybody makes a big deal about the 10 speeds, I don't get it. I know they get a little better economy, but I think they drive like s### compared to the 6 speed. I have owned both, and prefer the 6 speed.

My 2018 would shift hard at times. However, my 2021 shifts and I rarely notice it. It's very smooth.

Same, my 18 was odd, almost like it couldn't decided which gear to choose after first.

So far my 22, has been very smooth

Talk to your dealership and have them go to Ford.

I've known two people with the 10 speed that had issues and Ford fixed them both under warranty. One was out of warranty but they still replaced it.

My 10 speed went out on my 2017 F150 at 60K. TV Ford had it for a month trying to figure out why it would downshift at 70 to 2 gear and lock the tires up. SCARY! Ford Corporate didn't know what to do. So they dropped my transmission and sent to ford, ford sent them a new one to install.

It's a drive, but you might try Chastang Ford. They have a heavy fleet focus but might have a better turnaround time. Ask for service advisor Carlton when you call.

I ended up dropping at Gullo as they claimed they can get to it quicker than previously indicated.

Here is a video I took on Saturday. This was all with cruise control on. You can see the gears and revs change as the system tries and fails to get into multiple gears. Keep a look out for first!

My buddy with a 2018 with the 10 speed and the 3.5 had this same issue in November. Took his truck to the dealer, I think planet ford because he lives in the woodlands, and he just got it back a couple of weeks ago. They told him for the longest time it was the transmission control module but that didn't do it. They ended up having to replace the transmission. He has less than 60k on it.

Just got a voicemail that they finally determined my transmission has a "major problem" and they have to pull the whole cab off to pull the transmission. Fun times. I guess I'll be in the Camry rental for awhile longer. 30+ MPG has t been the worst thing over the past week or so.

Good luck. Gullo's techs couldnt even figure out that i had engine starting problems due to a failed starter. Had it for 2 weeks. But they offered to buy it back for half of what i bought it for 2 weeks prior.

The transmission in my 2018 F150 Ecoboost just started hard shifting occasionally, and I blame this thread. Had no problems until now. Gah!

One of my friends recently started as a Master Tech at Gullo Ford.

Thats nuts they cant pull a starter and bench test.
