Experiences with new Yukon Denalis?

Long story short… bought a Wagoneer and had immediate buyers remorse given the lack of customer support, knowledge of when accessories will be available and bad stories of peoples experiences thus far on forums.

Looking to trade for a Yukon Denali after ordering and waiting 7 months.

What do you like or dislike?

I'm on the fence about the airbag suspension. The Wagoneer has it and it's nice and I think we'd use for mild off-roading. I'd order an AT4 but it doesn't have a lot of nicer creature comforts like adaptive cruise control.

Would love to hear thoughts on these 22 Denali's.

Already..? Just texted my neighbor who runs the customization department at McKinney GMC.

Edit 1 - He just said both AT4 and Denali will both run 3-4 months on build.

Damn...

What do you mean knowledge of accessories being available. What accessory do you need that makes you trade in a vehicle for?

No idea when anything towing will be available. That is.. tow hooks, trailer brake controller, etc.

I got this wild ass addendum about not being able to tow in it.

No skid plates. $90k SUV and it doesn't even have folding mirrors?. You can't even get captains chairs when you order because of allocations. I haven't seen a single one in DFW with the HD tow package.

The new Uconnect system is trash. $5k McIntosh sounds system is barely above a standard Bose in GM products.

Don't get me wrong… it's a nice car, I'm just scared ****less these things are going to be lemons.

Hell, they announced the Grand Wagoneer is going AWAY from the 6.4L and putting the new v6 turbo in it.

Customer service and dealership have been absolutely worthless. CDJR was nowhere near ready to launch a luxury SUV line.

Eff that, I'm going to Sewell.

For the package we want (Denali ultimate) Sewell said probably 7 months.

I'm ok with that. We'll just trade this thing in for more than we paid for it in 7 months.

You think so? I'm seeing used vehicles in that category going for more than brand new MSRP. As an example, that dealership has a 2021 Denali with 8k miles going for 10k over brand new MSRP.

We paid MSRP so I would think we get right at what we paid or maybe more here in a few months if the market holds true. Could be wrong but having actual inventory in DFW is an absolute luxury right now and the market shows it.

You can't even find some of these vehicles to test drive. Maybe I'm wrong on the Wagoneer but I think the right dealership would have no trouble at all selling the one we have.

Right now you can absolutely get more than you paid. Not sure about 7 months. Maybe? Try Hurst Auto Plex Mitsubishi. They have a bunch of new Tahoes and Denali's. Think I saw a wagoner there too.

I'm also interested in hearing about future issues. Wife loves the wagoneer look but the price tag is hefty!

I don't have direct experience with Yukon Denali, but all my experience with automobiles indicates that if my choice was between a brand new model Wagoneer and a Yukon Denali, I'd take the Denali with utter conviction.

Looking for a Series III in Baltic grey? I know a guy.

Seriously though, I'll continue to update this thread maybe down the road until we/if we actually dump the Wagoneer.

It's a lovely ride, has a Hemi, airbags, and looks sleek as hell, but I hadn't quite realized all the things they "left out" just to make them exclusive to the Grand Wagoneer.

Why do you need to jump into a $100kMSRP SUV just to get folding mirrors and a different drive train?

Why do you need to put 3.92 gears in an SUV to make it "HD TOWING". My max tow f150 has 3.55s with a locking rear axle.

Why do you need to go up to up 100k model to get an electronic LSD?

Ultimately, for the mechanical and technological hard features we wanted, we really needed to be in the Grand Wagoneer but I wasn't about to go into that cost arena.

You can get a FULLY loaded Denali for less than that Series III we're in.

Just looked at Autoplex. A 22 Denali listed for 100k!!

they've got some sweet ones with 4" lifts though but still way more than MSRP.

Honestly, I'll probably put an order in on a '22 Expy too.

Navigators are pricey! I may take a look at those too. I do love the 3.5L ecoboost my F150. It has tons of get up and great fuel economy.

Man, I'm sorry to read this. Must be a terrible feeling to have buyer's remorse so soon on something so expensive. I guess the good news is, that if this had happened three years ago, you'd be staring at a 30% reduction in value. At least now, in this market, you should be able to salvage most of what you paid for it. And x2 for the Navigator. We've had a ton of vehicles but it's by far the best one we've ever owned. Good luck bud!

did you even test the wagoneer before buying it?

Sure did. Loved it and still do.

There are just some horror stories on owners boards.

Just something I don't want to be in 6-7 years from now after seeing some of the issues.

Test drives last all of what, 10 minutes?

Not surprising! I drive past there on the way to work every day and they are the only dealership with new stock

It's almost like paying that much for a Chrysler wasn't the best idea.

Jeez sorry everyone is being a dick.

Just wanted to say don't forget about expedition as the majority of Ford's from my understanding are not doing the over MSRP thing. If you need a vehicle of that size I really like the new expeditions.

I'm sorry that happened to you man. The interior on those things (from photos) look out if this world. I'm not as high on the exterior though.

Really interesting to hear about the issues. Thanks for sharing that with us just as consumers.

The new Escalades are where I'd start if they're in a the same price range. The new ones are so sexy

The wife received a Denali 3 weeks ago with the baby duramax. Can't really comment a whole lot on it since this is her daily driver, but she really likes it. Had an Infiniti qx 80 prior to the Denali. It has good enough power, but maybe a slightly stiffer suspension than the qx 80.

Thanks! It's a first world problem, for sure. The interiors are really nice with the Grand Wagoneer over the top. I'd still put the Denali up with the wagoneer though. I think the Denali still has a more truck feel on the inside due to the dash and console area. The Wagoneer almost feels like a sports car with its dash and console.

Jeep has to figure out that new UConnect5 system and fast. That thing has a lot of really really cool features but functions like absolute trash.

The other things I'm worried about are more than likely Covid related with terrible allocations and availability. Ultimately, I think we just thought "that's ok not to have" and "those will be available for us to add later" and that's just not coming to fruition.

No versions we saw (and that I've searched for around DFW) had the $2,000 360 camera and auto pilot/park package. Yet this comes standard on the Grand and Denali?

HD tow package (which is the only way to get a trailer brake controller or tow hooks) is not seen on a single one in DFW (that I've seen at least).

I've tried contacting the concierge Wagoneer service and the dealership a few times about it - no responses.

Most of the issues on owner forums are that dealerships likely know less about these things than consumers! Nowhere near prepared. I've seen people already having to get electrical systems replaced, airbag suspension motor grinding and replaced, complete factory reset on the UConnect, water leaking on the roof panels (tri-panel moon roof is SICK).

I'm sure some of that will improve over time but if I see issues down the road, I tend to pull the eject lever sooner rather than later.

Nice! How much longer did you have to wait to get the duramax? I'm on the fence about it and from what I've heard, the allocations on it are slim Pickens due to demand. Dealership told us the ultimate package (with airbags and rear-seat entertainment) will be 7-8 months likely.

The 6.2 guzzles gas and I'd really like the idea of a diesel that'll last 200k miles with ease. Is it really getting over 20mpg and upwards of 25-27 on the Highway?

'21 Denali owner here… wife drives it and loves it. I love the 6.2L and the dash is super nice… way better than ford IMO. The only thing I LOATHE is the 20g fuel tank and how it seems like I'm always filling up. But since it's her car I guess the only time I'm driving it is when she needs gas, haha. Other than that, it's great. I've towed a camper no prob. Again… just thirsty.
