Wow.

I'm mostly Highway with my 5.3 and I thought my 20.4 was good.

Close to 30K on my 6.2L. Great torque, decent top end pull, hauls trailers like a boss. 14mpg average and 22 Highway. I have a very heavy foot.

I don't keep my mileage in an app but i hand calculate it almost every time. Pretty consistently get 25.+ mpg in mixed driving in my AT4.

I'm sure cost comparisons between gas and diesel work out pretty close in the end. What you save on mileage in the 3.0 you lose on the maintenance. But, i will say on a day to day basis i think the 3.0 wins, going over 500 miles on a 23 gallon tank is pretty nice and reduces the amount of gas station stops you have to make. That being said maintenance hasn't been that bad. Gas versus diesel oil changes are pretty comparable in cost and interval, diesel needs a fuel filter change at approx 20k miles and fill the def tank when you change the oil.

I'm a fan of the 3.0, i think it's a great machine for a half ton.

I'm not sure there's a huge difference in oil changes now. I always run synthetic and my previous 5.0L F150 and my current 6.2L both run $120 for an oil change because the reservoirs are so large on these modern trucks.

Do you tow at all with it?

I tow a 33' 7000 pound travel trailer with it. I was concerned I may need a 3/4 ton for it but my 3.0 Silverado has had zero issues. No high revving, no hunting for gears, no whipping or sway. Half the time I barely feel it back there.

I pull a 22' cargo trailer with my 5.3, and I definitely know it is back there. Not just the weight but more the squat on the suspension. 7200 pounds, and a bit nose heavy

Does the 3.0 come with some sort of suspension upgrade or beefier towing package? It sounds a little unbelievable to say "barely feel it back there" when towing a 33' barn.
all diesel folks make claims like that. If you are pulling a 7,000 33' travel trailer with a 1/2 truck, you are going to definitely feel it back there. regardless of what engine is in your truck.
I once towed a travel trailer exactly that size with a 1/2 ton Nissan Titan. I had it tuned, added roadmaster leaf helpers - I definitely felt it back there and transmission ran hot at times. It was a bit of work to tow it around, draining as a driver.

Acquired a 2005 For Excursion with 6.0L diesel. Had it bulletproofed and tuned. Again added roadmaster leaf helpers.

I *barely* felt it back there. Like pulling a small jet ski. If I wasn't careful, I'd forget it was there.

That's not apples to apples. Excursion is a 3/4 ton, and Titans are dogs

I agree, my post was not really appropriate to support or argue against any point made in the thread. I mainly just had a strong flashback to how amazed I was at the difference in feeling between the two vehicles. Even comparing my Excursion to another stock Excursion might have been a noticeable difference from a power aspect anyway, the bulletproofing and tuning led to power gains you could really feel. And I really did like the Roadmaster active suspension upgrades on both vehicles. The Titan was sufficient, I towed that trailer from another state and all over Texas with it. But towing went from sufficient to dreamy with the Excursion.

I go in Wednesday to order 2022 Sierra 1500 AT4. I thought about the diesel, but im not towing anything. The truck just gets be back and forth to work, and 95% of the 45 minute drive is on 121 and 35. The weekend would just be a kid hauler.

With that said, I should just stick with the 6.2L and get prepared to put premium fuel in it?
