My F150 got broken into off 281 and 1604 on Saturday morning. Thieves cut the horn and popped the drivers door handle. Looks like they hit at least one more F150 in the same lot.

Those sons of disreputable women made off with my jump starter, but left a nice bottle of tequila that was under the back seat so I'm doing alright.

Just coming to vent. Thanks for listening. Stay safe out there.

Just take solace knowing the life expectancy of a career criminal is not good. Hth.

If you're traveling to San Antonio for any reason now, you should just go ahead and plan around your vehicle getting broken into or stolen. There's really no way around it anymore.

Looking at other forums (and Texags) looks like somebody there has Ford pickups pretty much figured out. All the same MO - horn, lock, and center console. Probably done in 30 seconds. Darn shame.

My BIL's 2019 Platinum got hit in San Marcos this summer. Left the catalytic converter, tailgate and everything inside, but took his rear brake lights. Crazy world.

I feel your pain, seriously. As posted elsewhere, my Tundra had its cat converters stolen from hotel parking lot at Houston airport Saturday early morning. I am without a vehicle for 2-3 months. All for a bunch of metal. I have some metal I would like to give those SOBs.

Is the metal you would like to give normally abbreviated as Pb?

Know of at least three people from my small town that have had Fords (F150 x 2 and F350 x 1) stolen in San Antonio over the past 8 months. All three were stolen in broad daylight.

Really sorry about. It's sucks enough when it's your own town, but when you're traveling through it's another level of pain. There's a special circle in hell for thieves that target travelers.

Thanks guys... may sound weird, but it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one who has had to deal with this.

Not just Ford. In Houston, I had 3 close friends (friend, coworker, in law) all have their Tahoe's stolen from their driveways within a span of about a week. They all had video and it was the same, cut the horn, break in, were in the car for a few minutes, then drove it away. Everyone of them got an email from On Star but didn't see it until waking up, which by then the On Star was deactivated.

I've got a 2006 that I'll drive until the wheels fall off (or until prices come back down, if ever). But when the next newish vehicle purchase happens, it will get a Ravelco as first order of business.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

Any and all of you F series owners need to protect your horn wires. They just unplug the wires on the heavy duties. To protect the lock have someone like South Texas Outfitters remove it. They put a blank in and then they can no longer just pop the lock. Stops them every time.

But then they go through the window… or at least that's what the body shop estimator told me. He said he had a few frequent fliers whose trucks are getting into. One had enough and removed the cylinder and put in the jammer - end result was a torn up door and a broken window.

Agree on the horn wires… that's going to be the first update when the truck is back. Going to reroute those - I imagine if someone can't cut the horn, they'd may be less likely to break in, but who knows?

After living in Houston most of my life, I've learned that auto crime is just part of life. If someone wants if bad enough, they're getting in your truck. But San Antonio is next level.

My crew had 6 trucks parked in downtown Austin last week. 2 of them were broken into. People suck.

With trucks costing well north of $60k and loaded with advanced technology that can basically drive the truck for you, seems like it they would be harder to break into.

I use my old F150 to catch them. I like to put an air conditioner compressor box in the bed full of bricks and park it locked up in a dimly lit lot.

Truck has never been stolen but our pet pigs are overweight.

Buddys z71 jacked from hobby airport lot over the weekend. Private offsite lot, they drove it outta there through the front gate somehow.

Got hit last night at a hotel by The Rim. Cut the horn and broke the drivers door handle. I don't think the actually stole anything. Might have a video on the dashcam they left.

Sum*****, I figured those offsite lots were more secure than leaving a vehicle at my house unattended.

Not if the $10/hr lot worker is getting a cut from his buddies that come in and jack vehicles out of the lot.

Having had a car stolen from my driveway, I say make them break the window. I want it to be the biggest pain for them, let them risk making too much noise.

My dashcam which they didn't steal caught the whole thing. The break in starts at the 7:45 mark, clock in the video is an hour fast due to not changing it for daylight savings. They were in and out in about 2 minutes. Condensation doesn't give a good view of much but pretty eye opening how fast they get in.

Looks to me like they cut your horn, and then once it was disabled moved to breaking in. I've always backed in, but I think I'm going to start nosing in to make it as painful as possible for these guys.

Anyone have any ideas of better securing the horn harness? I think if that's better secured, they may pass and go to the next one.

Edit: to add that I just saw a video on YouTube of break in on a Gen 2 Raptor - exact same MO: stand in front of the horn / cut or pull out the wires for the horn harness, and then move to the drivers door. I'd love to re-wire horn so it's located somewhere else or better protected.

I'm thinking about hiding a new horn somewhere else under the hood and leaving the OEM ones in place as dummies. Looks like they just yanked the horn harness to disconnect and didn't cut the wires. Should make for a better dash video the next time it happens.

I just connected to the same circuit and added a second set of horns. If they cut the wire the other horns still sound off when they break in.

Get a siren speaker for the extra horn or connect your alarm to it. Will be loud as heck.

Update: filed police report with SAPD. I know there is zero chance they do anything about the break in but thought maybe they'd appreciate the data at least. Received an email this morning letting me know that this was not in fact vehicle burglary, but just criminal mischief since nothing was stolen.

Buddy of mine had his GMC stolen by the freaking valet drivers here in uptown Dallas. Valet driver took his truck and just kept driving and left with it. Valet team played dumb but he got security camera video from a business next door showing the guy just drive off the lot with it.

Had to do it all himself though and convince the business next door to give him the tape. Police won't mess with it.

How did your buddy get the vehicle back? Did he eventually convince the police to engage and track down the vehicle at the valet's residence or something?
