Sorry, he didn't if I was unclear there. He got so far as proving it was stolen and that's it. Police wouldn't do anything about it but insurance covered it. Buddy of mine had his GMC stolen by the freaking valet drivers here in uptown Dallas. Valet driver took his truck and just kept driving and left with it. Valet team played dumb but he got security camera video from a business next door showing the guy just drive off the lot with it.
Had to do it all himself though and convince the business next door to give him the tape. Police won't mess with it.

Here's a link to a video I found on YouTube of someone breaking into a Raptor - looks the same as your video, check the horn and then hit the lock. In this video it looks like the horn was already cut since he doesn't do it on camera, but he's definitely checking it out.

The insurance lobby bought the Texas Supreme Court way back when. You'd think they'd be able to buy municipalities into getting their PDs to actually care about car thefts. I guess, for some reason, not.
That's really funny. It's so much easier to just raise the insurance rates for theft and full coverage. You can bet insurance companies aren't losing any money overall to theft.91AggieLawyer said:

How about a 10 year minimum sentence for vehicle theft? With no early release. That's the bigger problem- once they catch the thief, very minimal sentence of jail time, if any.
Booby trapping and/or skull cracking should be legal for this crap. Ok, maybe not booby trapping, but a split skull should be a minimum down payment.

Update: filed police report with SAPD. I know there is zero chance they do anything about the break in but thought maybe they'd appreciate the data at least. Received an email this morning letting me know that this was not in fact vehicle burglary, but just criminal mischief since nothing was stolen.
If it is at night, criminal mischief can be met with deadly force in Texas.
My F150 got broken into in my Dallas apartment complex Tuesday night. Completely smashed out the entire back glass. Guess that was easier than messing with the door handle.
