I knew someone who had the LP 20NG0

(it was a long time ago, so it may have been a variation of that, but either way it was 2.0 and Go)

I wouldn't not hire just because of his car.

Assuming these Ferrari drivers have been highly successful in their chosen professions, why are they so stuck on telling the world around them that they were less successful in school? Seems like a big chip on their shoulder? Who cares? And my question to them would be what kind of GPA do they want their kids to strive for?

He has several other non-legal businesses. Most successful lawyers are semi-serial entrepreneurs.

Yeah, that's a no for me dog, I need my attorney to be above board and legal with all his businesses.

You got to read it another way.

Dude partied hard through school had a good time, graduated with a 2.1, and now owns a Ferrari.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you got there.

Its either hard work or get lucky. Sometimes both.

I guess you have to get a 2.0 or higher for a Ferrari. Spotted in the Med Center, San Antonio

Probably not as funny when you get there for the appointment and that's your doc. One of those 'gotta get away' commercials in the making.

I get what you're saying, but my point is that everyone knows a GPA means nothing 2-3 years out of school. It only had value in getting your first job, when your resume had little to differentiate it from 1000s of others. So why dwell on it? Who cares whether it was 1.9 or a 3.9? And if the dude has legitimately made it and can afford that car, isn't there something way cooler he could brag about in those 6-7 characters, or perhaps just let the car do his talking? It just seems like he needs to let it go. Yep he had way more fun in school than the 3.9 crowd and is now way more successful than many of them too, but drop the GPA stick, it's stupid and seems small. I categorize this as an "act like you've been here before thing." Show a little class, a little modesty, and just let you $350k car do the talking for you if you have to make a statement.

And sometimes it just takes being the right sperm.

Nothing in this pic says dad isn't a lawyer and got him a job at his firm. The amount of nepotism out there is still really high

Most times I hear this are from people justifying why they aren't doing better in school. I had a friend tell me the top people in Med School make better professors but the bottom half ones make better real doctors.

The reason you primarily see this with 2.0 gpa, is because they stuck 150k+ in a car instead of the market. Plus, when is the lease up on this thing?

In my experience it depends on the profession, and how closely correlated the educational path is to the actual day-to-day of graduates in their career.

Most law schools, especially the highly-rated ones, are extremely academic in nature. To the point where if you tried to practice in the world the same way you operated in law school, you would either be fired for failing to bill nearly enough hours, or face ethics violations for billing out massive amounts of totally pointless work.

Most law schools that actually focus on practical career training are looked down upon by the profession. I don't know enough about Medical School to know if it's the same way, but as long as the schooling doesn't mirror the reality, I think there's a lot of truth in the adages about top students being poorly suited for the career.
