How long do you want to ignore this user?
I need to get my truck inspected. The check engine light is off. I know the bulb is good becuase it lights up and then turns off when i start the truck like it should.

But if I hook up a code scaner i have a Cylinder 8 misfire dectected.

Can i still pass inspection? of do i need to try to fix the code first?

I guess you're in an emissions county? If you are not, it doesn't matter because they won't hook up a reader.

Did you recently use your scan tool to clear the CEL? If so, you have to go through a full drive cycle to reset the car's computer. If it hasn't gone through the full drive cycle after clearing a code then it won't pass inspection.

I have a cheap Bluetooth scanner from Amazon. The Torque app on my phone has a display that lists all the sensor tests and if they all read "OK" (a couple can say N/A) then it has been through a drive cycle and will pass. If more than one (I think) says "not ready" or if any say "fail" then inspection will fail.

Ultimately you probably need to get that misfire fixed, though. Plugs, coils are common causes.

My county DGAS as long as your brakes and lights work.

you sure it's an active code and not a history code?
