Jeep Patriot Shaking

How long do you want to ignore this user?
My wife's 2014 Jeep Patriot shakes at idle when in drive or reverse but as soon as you shift into park or neutral, it stops. The shuddering is mostly felt in the steering column and seat. In addition, it is always present but sometimes more than others, though I can't figure out correlating conditions for this.

It is under an 100k mile extended warranty with about 50 miles to go. The first dealership replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the injectors, replaced the engine mounts, and stated that the transmission mounts were good. No change yet they insisted the shaking had been reduced and than any remaining shaking was normal.

The second tightened the new engine mounts, suggested cleaning the injectors, also thinks the transmission mounts are good, and has supposedly used an oscilloscope to no avail. Now they admit the issue exists but they state they have exhausted all options.

MasterTech, the warranty company, refuses to cover this in the event that a cause is diagnosed after the warranty expires. So now I have a car that has spent a total of 3 months in 2 shops that is still shaking and about to be out of warranty.

Any advice on shops in BCS that would work with MasterTech? Any suggestions on the cause of the shaking?

Sell it. Buy a Toyota or Honda.

You're not wrong. I hate it because it just feels cheap overall. At the same time, the shaking doesn't affect the useability and it's paid off.

I believe they have told me the transmission mounts are good but I'll ask again and push to have them changed anyway.

Wife's ford escape does the same.

Changed all motor mounts and transmission mount. Still shakes. I've been told its the make of engine.

Has it always done that? My car didn't start until about 85K miles.

The first dealership told me it was normal for the car and I told the manager that it hadn't always done it asked him if he was really telling me that Jeep made such ****ty cars that they were supposed to shake. He didn't really have an answer for that.

No, it started doing it around between 60K-70K. Outside of warranty. Tried everything, replaced the spark plugs too.

Not sure if anything can be done to fix it because I read somewhere that the old mazda L engines that were capable of shaking were used in old ford escapes.

1ags - Does the type of brand make a difference? I put aftermarket ones on the wife's escape. Heck, the vibration seemed a bit worse after.

Definitely.
Always OeM for motor mounts if possible.
