I had to get out from under my Dodge that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately someone T-boned me last year and did $18k worth of damage that didn't seem to age well. Wish I could have sued the hell out of that insurance company. Anyway, I made a move on a Toyota Tundra. Liking it so far. Sucks no more gas than my dodge so that is a good thing I guess.

Love it, hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!

If you don't mind, how tall is the lift and what's the measurements on the tires? I am looking to make some changes next bonus season...

The lift is 6". My current tires are LT295/60R20 but will go to 35x12.5R20T next year. These are Nitto Grapplers btw.

Did you buy the truck with the lift already on it? Looks like a leveled truck with 34" tires... Maybe the lift and tires raised the truck a total of 6"??

Yes, bought as you see. The total height is about 7'. I think just under like 6'11".

Are you planning on re-gearing if you go with 35s?

Sorry. Couldn't resist. I'm glad you made it out of what sounds like a bad wreck ok.

Haha!! I didn't even think of that. Yeah my 12 year old was with me and the front dash collapsed on her knees. Just some scratches but very scary for her.

Honestly didn't think about that one. What does it take to re-gear? What is the downfall if you don't. I have compared the tires and there isn't that much difference b/w the two from what I can tell but maybe that little difference would cause issues.

Re-gearing is expensive. My '07 is on 315/70/17 (with a leveling kit) and isn't appreciably slower. The biggest issue is the speedometer (and odometer) being off.

Not really sure of the cost, it just seems that everyone on tundras.com talks about having to re-gear when they go 35's and up. I just became a first time tundra owner and I've contemplated a small lift to add 295s, so I've been perusing the site.

Beautiful truck by the way.

Put some money aside for door lock actuators. I've replaced 6 on my 2007 Tundra DC.

Also, plan for the water pump to go out every 90,000 miles.

The air injection pump problem is a crap shoot. Mine still works like new, but many go out. Get the bypass kit instead of repairing ($$$$$) it if they go out. https://hewitt-tech.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=82

Other than that, they're pretty bulletproof. Mine is about to tick over 227,000 miles.

Not Tundra specifically, but my wife's 4Runner had the door lock actuators go out on both front doors, it's a 2015

Actuators are $30 - $120 on Rock Auto and take < an hour to swap.

Water pump is a little more, but mine lasted til 180K.

It's definitely not hard but I have no clue on the OPs skill level. I just changed my driver's front door one out for the second time and found out the dealer left off all but 2 door panels clips when they replaced it the first time under warranty. *******s!!!

Aisin is the factory brand. I was just pointing out that the actuators will fail, that's a 100% certainty. It's actually the little Chinese made motor that fails inside the units. Imagine that!

Good looking Tundra! I'm still in my 2005 crew cab 4x4. Mine's white, has 225 k on it. Will likely look at another Tundra this year or next, but they claim a new body style and engine are coming in '22. Where did you find an '18 in such terrific shape? Looks brand new. How does the interior look? How many miles?

Better than my second actuator change when I rushed and forgot to hook up the arm going to the door lock on the passenger door. I had to pry up the piece by the window and bend the panel in to reach down and unlock the door. I don't even think I was drinking beer while changing it.

I found this one at NW Dodge in Houston. Wasn't necessary looking for a Toyota but just came across this one. It had 40K miles on it which was more than I would of wanted but not too bad. It is in great condition on the interior. The only issue was a cut on the leather on passenger side of center consol. I can't see it so it doesn't both me. Ha! Going to try and see if it can be fixed though. Pretty sure whoever owned it before put mostly highway miles on it.

Edit to add that I am not a fan of black leather but the white stitching in the leather was a really nice look.

I am not mechanically inclined, but can change out brake pads, change oil, etc. As long as it is on YouTube. Ha! Sounds like that is something I would definitely try before I took it in.

You guys are providing a lot of good information and I appreciate it. Looking forward to enjoying my first Toyota truck.

You will enjoy it! They are damn good trucks and the 5.7 is a beast (although a thirsty beast ).

I still thinks it drives better than my wife's 2015 F150 and it certainly has a better turning radius!

Tundra turn radius is seriously under appreciated. Fantastic bonus.

I have always thought mine turned like a freight ship but maybe that's because my wife has a Sequoia and those things will turn on a dime.

I have an 07 about to roll over 200K and have never had door lock issues. I bought it around 80K so maybe they had issues before I got it.

Water pump went out at exactly 90K. Replaced myself for around $150

AC condenser went out around 150K. Paid $1100 to replace, didn't have time to screw with removing the dashboard.

AIP went out around 110K but was replaced under warranty.

Overall I have probably spent around $1500-$2000 on non-routine maintenance (brakes, oil, tires, battery) since I bought the truck in 2015. That number would be way lower if I had had the time to do the AC condenser.

Is it the wheel and tire size that makes this look really clean or is it the lift? I googled 6 inch lifts for tundra and they look like ass compared to this. I like modest modifications that don't seem over done.
