Stumbled across this interesting ride. I know nothing about these...May be a complete hack job but it looks sweet to me (minus wheels/tires).. I'm not in any way/shape/form part of this dealer. In any case...have a look.

Says only 32k miles...for the low price of $104,900!

Looks like it's in great shape and the under side isn't all rusted out. The 110 trucks are rare and this looks like a nice restomod, they might get that $$$.

As someone who really wants a 110, this is the going rate for a non-Santander model restored 110 truck.

Oh well, this is why I'll eventually settle for a Scout of Bronco.

I really like Landys, but for that coin I would get a G wagon.

I still wish I would have bought that 110 that a dude here put in Barrett Jackson no reserve and it went for like $13K.

Love the Scouts! I'm even eyeing older 4Runners. Not as cool though.

Ouch... that hurts!

Really cool build, but the slushbox is lame.

Defenders are starting to get stupid money here in the States. There's nothing really special about them other than most of them rusted away, so there are very few good ones left.

You should be able to score one in "ok" shape and have it worked on for less than half this price.

Myself I stumbled across a 96 Disco SD which, for me, is the most desirable since there are no sunroofs to leak, manual cloth seats, and it's a manual. It's actually super rare. I need to get to work on it in fact.

You can check out Helderberg Defender or Warren Defender and see what they have. Not sure I've seen many trucks, though.

Yeah. I always regret not buying a low mileage 90 in 2010... guy only wanted $14k (soldier going abroad).

Told him I'd call him back the next day, and it was already gone.

I remember that, still feel bad for the guy.

A guy on my street is selling a 110 but not sure of the price but my other Defender-having neighbor said he's seen it in several shops around here. I'm going to get his number today.

It was a back burner goal to bring a Defender back from Australia with me.

Wound up with a RHD Grand Cherokee.

The problem was, at 2.2m tall, i couldn't get a Defender into the car park at my office in North Sydney.

Ha Ha. I'm still in Kalifornia.

Another car park funny was when I saw the maximum vehicle height listed as 2200mm.

I've got a '97 Defender 110. What's in the picture looks to be a Defender 130, at least that's what the crew cab with the truck beds are called where I live. Nice looking but that price is ass.

Sweet - Is the VIN a '97 NAS truck? Or are you not in the US?

Where you located?

I've got a few projects and one or two trucks that actually get driven

And I'd guess that's a 110 double cab 'build' with a 2.4 Puma engine (Ford DuraTorq)

Since it's an '83 that's a build likely based off a 110 chassis. The 127 (later called the 130) started in 1983 using a stretched 110 chassis

I don't think the 110 double cab was in factory production until 1990 but I know there were prototypes going back to the Series trucks and a good possibility some were produced prior to 1990 by Land Rover Special Vehicles

Cool truck but I'd be careful about engine/EPA and registration and import issues - Customs and Land Rover North America love confiscating and crushing Defenders - certain doctor in North Carolina took it on the chin along with a few others.

Seems like for a while it was sport for Customs to find Defenders to crush

Yeah, it used to be over 25 model years old but I think it's been reduced down to 21 years now.

I just brought in a RHD Jeep Grand Cherokee from Australia. I was warned that I would have all kinds of problems and possibly even have my vehicle crushed.

CBP didn't even open the container. Now, the next trick will be getting it legally registered. But, it is sitting in my backyard right now.

I did do a lot of homework and paperwork before I brought it over though.

What year model is it and what state are you in? What port of entry?

Yeah the 21 year rule is specific to the EPA and the motor/emissions - 25 years applies to the vehicle itself

Used to be you only needed to worry about the Feds but now some states - like Colorado - are following California's lead with more stringent emissions standards to get registered.

There's now a "48 state vehicle" for emissions as in you can't sell it and register it in all 50 states without spending a lot of money and most people don't know the process. Cummins developed their new 2.8 crate diesel primarily for Jeep swaps but still can't get it approved for all 50 states (last I checked) which is what they intended when they developed the crate program

General idea for importation used to be all VIN numbers needed to match for engine and chassis from the factory.

Now I hear it a little easier and you can import with the original chassis but with a 'period correct' engine swap assuming you don't switch between diesel and gas or vice versa

Ive only imported two vehicles but I try to stick to original VIN on chassis and motor b/c every port of entry is different - you never know who didn't get the memo from DC

Texrover- I live in Germany but plan on shipping this 110 and a 130 back to Texas in a few years. Both will be at or over the 25 yr mark, and both have matching chassis/engine numbers (original engines in both). I'll have to check and see what all hoops I'll have to jump through at some point...

He wants $40K. I don't have pictures but it looks like a decent survivor w/ no visible rust.

Left hand drive truck?

Diesel or V8?

I'd take a hard look - wife wants one and her bday is coming up but I'd have to put a slushbox in it

Or keep it stick and she pays and I drive it lol

I'll check if LHD later but not sure on anything else. His # is 202.769.7020.

But.....my buddy that has a 90 said he's seen it camped out at 3 different shops recently so either he got a lot of maintenance or there's a lot of gremlins.

Edit: it's a LHD.

Mine is numbers matching parts.
A couple caveats are that I had to have owned it as personal property overseas and I'm not allowed to sell it.
I'll disclose the rest of the details after I get it registered.

When you come back from Germany, you might want to see if any of your vehicles are on this list.

Cool!

Now I have a hook-up in LHD country!

Buddy and I (another Ag) are partnering up to do some Rover projects -

We're doing a frame-off 130 V8 right now and have a 130 V8 RHD at sea now. Will swap it to LHD and do a frame-off on it as well. Brought a 3 door 110 200tdi with LHD over last year that we are converting to a soft top. They all came over from NL.

Also have a '94 NAS soft top that is a driver but will probably end up doing a frame off resto at some point.
