So I loaded something in the back of my Excursion this morning that may have had a snake inside. At lunch I drove this item to a shop to have it worked on. I noticed a strange smell, but attributed it to the fact my wife had taken it to the beach the week before and the heat was bringing the smell out of the sand, etc.
So after work I get the vacuum out to clean the truck an find a regurgitated rat on the floorboard of the third row.
So after putting some clues together I have come to the conclusion that I may have trapped a snake in my truck and when it was trying to get out of the machine it spit out the rat.

How do I go about making sure it is not up in a seat or up in my dash?

I can think of one way to Dodge the issue....

That timing could not have been more perfect

Rat snake.

Leave your windows cracked about 1.5". He'll leave on his own....unless you have live rats in your truck.


Or close the windows and park the truck on pavement for the day in the Texas heat. It will solve the snake problem but then you'll have it locate it.

I'd like to see a video of OPs truck sitting silently in the driveway when a giant rat snake bails out the cracked window. Nightmare fuel indeed.

I first read this as a not so humble brag of snake in the trunk..

Found it coiled up in the seat belt compartment in the drivers side B-pillar.

Was able to coax it out without setting the car on fire.

Now to get the remaining dead rat funk out.

So, I left my truck open for a while hoping the snake would "let itself out"

I never saw anything and I thought I had looked everywhere. Under seats, under the dash, etc.

My wife was working this weekend and wanted me to bring lunch so I thought "I have to drive it sometime", so I took the truck being sure to look frequently around the truck while I was driving. Nothing.

After lunch I was getting back in the truck and caught a glimpse of him while I was getting in.



After I banged around on the B-pillar a bit, he looked to see what was going on.

The snake is thinking to itself. "TexAg1987 thinks he can disturb my nap. Just wait until he's going down the highway at 80 and I plop in his lap. We'll see who gets the last laugh!"

until i had 100 percent confirmed no snake, i would have said sorry honey, find your own lunch.

That was my wife's car.

It actually went up into the lower grill. I eventually persuaded it out and directed it to a drainage ditch. Almost had the same thing over again.

Time to visit the outdoor board and put this on the snake thread. Too good an adventure to not post it there as well.
