2011 Toyota Sienna-124K
AC been blowing too warm(not hot) for a while. Bought a gauge set. Added some refrigerant. Pressure (high side) came up and temp went down a bit. High side pressure was still a bit low compared to what I found online. That was 2 weeks ago.
This weekend I checked pressures again, about the same as two weeks ago under similar ambient temp/humidity conditions. Added a little more refrigerant to get pressure up where it was supposed to be. No change in temp.
The compressor clutch disengages when the AC is off or the pressure switch is disconnected. However, when running normally it NEVER disengages. The clutch is constantly running if the AC is set to on, never cycles off. Blowing 60 degrees out of the center vent. Low side pressure moves between 45 and 55, high side between 190 and 210ish. That was at 90deg and 50% humidity outside. Condensor is in good shape but I cleaned it anyway. New cabin air filter.
Anyway, I don't know what my next move is. Do I need to have it evacuated and properly charged by weight with some dye so i can look for a leak? I added a whole 12oz can 2 weeks ago and another partial can this weekend. Is there a way to definitively diagnose a bad compressor? It looks relatively accessible if I need to swap it out.
Anyway, this is the car my wife and kids drive daily, and we will be on the road a lot in about a month with soccer starting up again so need it to work as it should. Blowing 60deg just doesn't keep up with the outside temps.
