Nice rig! Plan to buy one in a few years.
I will share a few pro-tips from my experience. First, as you are probably aware, there aren't too many Land Cruisers sold every year so dealers don't get very many of them. And when the dealers do get them, almost always they become "demos" for the dealer or his wife. There was only 1 dealership in the Nashville area that had a "new" Land Cruiser - there were roughly 8 for sale and the other 7 had somewhere between 1,500 and 12,000 miles.
The 1 "new" Land Cruiser that was available was white - and I did not want white. So, I told the dealership find me a Black over Black or Blue over Black model that is new - I want it fresh off the boat with all the stickers still on it, all the VOC smells, etc. I'm not paying new prices for a vehicle with 1,500 miles on it. After a long search, they found one for me and I took delivery with 11 miles on the clock. So, it's possible to find a new one, you just have to be patient (and a little bit demanding).
Second, despite the notion that "the only selection you have is color", this is only partially true. There are a few options (remote start, clear bra, carpet or rubber floor mats, various electronic differences) that come from the factory. You can always have the dealer add most of theses, but sometimes they already come from Japan this way.
Third, the only real change between the 2017 and 2018 is they took the seat-mounted TVs out of the 2018. To me, the TVs add absolutely no value and actually make entry and egress a lot harder, especially for kids; so I was hunting for only 2018s.
