Slide on over to OneAg's auto show thread for Dr. Venkman's post of best Land Cruiser.

Inspired me to wheel mine to church today.

CP90, do you have a 40? We have a house on the west coast and want something fun for out there and keep circling on various FJ40….until I saw this '93 Troopy.

I think I can talk myself into the validly of this as an Island/mainland rig! It might even go 72mph!

That looks sweet! You need it.

And it has extra space over a regular 40.

Yessir, I do have a 40, as do a few other lucky *******s or tormented souls on this thread - because depending on the day it can be either way.

I like the looks of that troopy a lot. I don't know what your expectations are for your fun-west-coat-rig... but it's not even in the same ballpark with the troopy. The 40 is pretty slow and primitive compared to such a later model LC.

I love my little tractor and the fact that is the way a lot of owners describe them should tell you right up front what to expect. Around town or down farm roads they aren't particularly fast, they don't ride the best, they provide only the basic comforts, and they don't fit more than 2 2026 sized adults. That said, they have the soul of a mountain goat and when you pull onto the trail they make you feel like you're leading the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The only thing stops them on a mountain pass is line of admirers who want a closer look. If you choose to work on one yourself you build a reciprocal relationship and the deeper you get into it, the deeper it gets into you. 40s aren't for everybody and even after I bought mine I wasn't certain they were for me, but once I let it take root... I came to love it.

Somewhere between Lajitas and Presidio.

cstav86 from a few pages back. He's totally rebuilt his 2F since this pic was taken.

Kinda regret not buying this FJ that a couple of my friends owned. I think he sold it for $8K

I've nearly committer to several fJ40s. All with 2F engines; and another project to bring back to near showroom quality . I get slow. I think my FZJ80/1FZ-FE is slow; but at least it would make it over the Coronado Bridge and could be used on the freeways of San Diego. A 40 would strictly be a beach buggy on the mean streets of Coronado. My wife wants me to ship the 80 there; but I'm too in love with it as my daily here. That 75 troopy might just be the best of both worlds. I'm asking you to talk me into the 75!

I'll make it easy. Get the 75. Not because of what the 40 isn't, but for what the 75 is. For shooting around town and taking more folks with you - that's the play.

I'm planning on driving my 40 to my nephew's wedding in Johnson City in March. I'm planning a route the keeps me off the big road as much as possible. I'm comfy at 62-65 mph, but when everyone is driving 80, well, I don't want someone checking their email to crunch my baby.

Looking at it again, and the seller's profile, you must insist on an independent pre purchase inspection.

Take it to Tandem or Goode's, or see if Joey @ 4runner house will look it over.

That seems like a "comprar aqui pagar aqui" lot, not a classic Toyota enthusiast.

Pablo & Tony @ Tandem do all my work when I'm not confident or have the right equipment (anything requiring front alignment)

Duggy's garage or Javier's

Dropped it off at Duggy's just now and saw this in the showroom. Good ideas for wife's anniversary later this year.

This is the most we've used the LX for off road....

Crap, $2,500 for the valley leak. Is that the going rate these days?!

Got another quote for less and I'm having the air diverter changed as well since that broke when having the valley leak fixed on my Tundra. Hope it's done today.

I passed by this one at our local used car lot in Marshall and thought it looked cool.
