~five years ago, I had never done brakepads or even changed the oil in a car. I primarily credit this board with teaching me stuff and lots of people like Silvy, the Dubis, 1Ags and Catag for answering my stupid questions. .
Here is an album. Nothing I did was all that hard, but considering I had no real mechanical knowledge whatsoever a few years ago, I'm pretty proud of the work. Baby steps.

Last question I never answered...

Your crazy uncle dies and the terms of the will are that all vehicles you currently own are given to charity, but you are given $300,000 to buy vehicles (new or used) with all gas and insurance paid for by his estate forever. You must have at least one sedan, one truck/SUV and one coupe/convertible. You can have any number of cars in addition to those three. What do you buy and why?
Well, we have a couple little kids, so I am going to start it off with the obvious and most boring choice possible. Honda Odyssey. But the pimped out one with the vacuum built in. My wife will love it.
$45k.
My dad is disabled and lives with me. His dream car has been a Super Duty, so budget 55k for a nice used Super Duty. He'll probably drive it about 2,000 miles a year.
$100k used of $300k.
Need a coupe/convertible. I'm going to go with a dream car since I was a kid. Porsche 911 Turbo. I'll budget $70k for a used 997 Turbo.
$170k used of $300k.
Need a Sedan. Going to have to be automatic so the wife can drive it. I think I go get a Tesla P85D. Looks like those can be had for about $80k.
$250k used of $300k.
I've still got $50k left over. All 50k on a project car. What project I would want to do changes every single day, but 50k would be a nice chunk to throw down on a Cobra replica.
This garage:

Not the most exciting garage, but it would work well for my family.
As a bonus, my father in law has a legit Shelby GT500 and he got it painted this year. A few pics for your pleasure.

Creating a new thread. Sorry about the delay. Hope the Shelby pics make up for it if the Miata pics don't.
