Was told I need new shocks / struts on my 2013 Kia Sorento

Went for oil change and tire rotation and upon returning to pick it up, I was told the struts and shocks are worn and have me a quote of around $1800 to replace front and back. They said I should be noticing the car vibrating some while driving because of this problem, and honestly I do think I can tell the ride is bumpier lately and noticing some minor wheel shaking at times.

Have 80,000 miles on it

Is this something I need to address immediately or can I put it off for awhile for financial reasons as the Christmas season approaches? This is our main family vehicle so if it is a safety concern to drive on it with worn shocks and struts, I'll find a way to get it fixed now. Other question is about the amount they quoted...is that a reasonable price of $1800?

Sounds like BS to me.

1. It is valid that your shocks might need to be replaced.

2. I don't know anything about a Kia's suspension, but $1800 sounds ridiculously high.

This is an accurate assessment.

Our front shocks and struts were replaced at 90k. Sounds reasonable to me. But we had a Honda Pilot and price was $750 for everything. Sounds like you're getting screwed unless they are quoting all four. But even that seems high.

I live in north fort worth.

The quote was for all 4, front and back. Seemed high to me, but I wouldn't know hence why I came here to ask ask you guys :-)

Is it a safety issue not replacing them immediately?

Here's a set of 4 from 1aAuto.com. They seem to be a little cheaper at $133 for the whole set

Monroe shock upgrade ($255 for the whole set):

You could probably buy these and get an independent shop to install them if you're not in to doing it yourself.
