How old were you when you first discovered your passion for vehicles?
Growing up on the farm, I always helped with servicing tractors/combines/farm vehicles, but I would say the passion really started when I bought my first house and had the garage space to work on my own vehicles.

Would you ever lower a truck?
There are a few examples from the '80s and earlier that look OK a little bit lowered. In general, outside of a leveling kit, I don't really care for lowering or lifting trucks.

What's your preferred jam while hoonage ensues? \
I've been on an AC/DC kick for the last 7 years or so. Classic Rock and Country

What's your typical Whataburger order?
There's a reason the patty melt on the all-time favorites menu. The #2 and the chicken strip sandwich are good, too.

How do you like your steak cooked?
Medium rare

If you were to build a sleeper with a typical budget, what vehicle would you use and what power plant would you use?
My plan is to upgrade the 4.0l in my 2000 Wrangler with an LS 5.3l down the road. I'd like to use that as an opportunity to spend quality time with my son when he is a little older.

What state would you reside in if you weren't able to live in Texas?
I've always considered the Panhandle to be different enough from the rest of the state that a move to central Texas would be a sufficient answer to this question.

Most f'ed up car/driving story of your life?
When I was 17, I was driving down a paved farm road in the middle of nowhere, going about 60, when a black cow appeared suddenly. I swerved and sort of hit the sweet spot where I didn't roll into the ditch and I didn't hit the cow dead-on. I ended up hitting it in the face with my passenger headlight and the cow lived. I was furious and shaken out of my wits. The cow was just furious.

Two weeks later, I managed to ignite my gas tank port while pulling the handle out of the tank (static shock). This was on a gravity fed gas tank out on the farm, so kind of remote. Sort of a long story, but I managed to keep my wits enough to make everything as safe as I could and then fled the scene expecting a Die Hard style explosion at any second. The fire ended up self extinguishing and I was able to get most of the stains out of my underwear.

Favorite/least favorite beer?
I pretty much like any stout, especially Guinness on tap, but don't really drink much these days. Don't really care for IPAs.

Drink of choice?
Black coffee and lots of it.

What do you want your next vehicle to be? \
Something paid for. There are a few new vehicles I openly covet, though: F-150 'Booooost, G-wagon, 4-door Rubicon. And a few olds as well: '86 Chevy Short Wide, '68 Bronco, Series III Land Rover, CJ-5, or most well done late '60s muscle cars.

How many JCI chili cheese dogs can you eat in one sitting?
Probably more than most. I didn't build this body overnight.

Which car do you want to shove off a cliff? \
My first truck: '82 GMC long bed with a 305 and a 3-on-the-tree. That motor was crap and the paint was basically burnt orange.

In your opinion, what is the absolute worst modification that can be done to a vehicle?
It kills me seeing massive lifts on diesel trucks. There are worse things out there, but all I can see is how much money someone dropped on a diesel only to make it impossible to functionally use the bed or tow anything.

3 favorite car related activities?
- Driving the jeep with the top off in nice weather with classic rock blaring.
- I like some trailing. Not really looking for anything that requires a massive lift, but usually just something at or just above a stock vehicle.
- Tinkering in the garage.

I wasn't able to, due to some travel for work. I have managed to make it to the one at the Region 16 building they hold from regularly during the summer this year.

- '82 GMC 1/2 ton w/ 305 and a 3-on-the-tree in high school. Had a loud muffler and radio, but that's about all it had going for it.
- 2000 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton short wide w/ 318 and 5-speed at A&M. Wrecked it the day after graduation on the way back to Amarillo
- '99 Corolla to replace the Ram. Was definitely not the sexiest car ever made, but I met my wife while I had that car.
- Moved to Florida for two years to be a field engineer at a construction site. They gave me a company car; a 2007 Sebring, which took a lot of abuse on the unpaved drive to the construction trailers from the site entrance.
- Moved back to Texas and bought a lightly used 2010 Ram Crew Cab w/ Hemi. Paid for it in cash, which was a super cool feeling. It's been a great daily driver.
- Shortly thereafter, I bought the 2000 Wrangler Sahara, which has been the most fun I've had working on a vehicle.

What vehicle would you buy with a budget of $50k?
F-150 booooooooost!

What year did you graduate?
2009 - Did I just give away my age so freely?!

Travel board question: if you won a free vacation, where would you go in the world?
Mrs. TheGoodAg and I loved our honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean, we want to do a Mediterranean cruise in the future. It would be great to wake-up in port at a new country every day!

That's what scares me!

In my business, I deal with a lot of seasoned construction superintendents, foremen, etc. Great guys, lots of good knowledge, but they don't often welcome a young guy coming in and telling them how it's going to be. It's been a good learning experience, both in how I can learn from their expertise and help them in their work, but also call them on the bull**** and tell them how it's going to be when it has to be a certain way. It's a give/take business and usually takes time to trust one another.

It's only funny because I've had really great phone calls/email traffic with a lot of those guys, and then I meet them in person and they feel like they've been duped because of my age, haha! I guess it's not so applicable here.

That's what we're thinking. We sailed with Royal Caribbean and I have no doubt we'll use them again.

Princess. Also, the boat was only about 65% full, so we were upgraded from window room to balcony room and no lines for anything.

Wife and I want to do a 2-week cruise across northern Europe next. There is one that hits Stockholm, Copenhagen, Bruges, St. Petersberg, London and a few other places that looks great. I've already been to Stockholm, but would love to go back.

Nice. What time of year did you go?

What kind of people were aboard? I've only ever done Carnival cruises as cheap getaways and, as someone on the GB said, Carnival is the Golden Coral of vacations...
Guitarsoup

It was late June.

If you do them right, cruises are great. Most people that don't love them are doing the Carnival ones.

Sadly, I think our next one will be a Disney cruise out of Galvetraz.

When we were on site at the plant in Florida, we were pretty close to Port Canaveral where several of the cruise lines dock. I've always heard you can drive up last minute and see if they have empty rooms and get a pretty sweet deal on a weekend cruise (like hundred bucks a person for 3 days).

My wife and I kept telling ourselves we were going to do it and the timing was just never right. Really disappointed we never did.

A friend of mine did that to cross the Atlantic on a 2-week for like $400.

I should probably give that a shot myself. I live maybe 4 minutes from the cruise terminal in Galveston.

However, we were only 50 minutes from DisneyWorld and we bought season passes as residents, which was pretty cheap. We did spend a lot of free time there.

Ain't nothing "free" about time spent at Disneyworld!
