Picking up my Nik Monday-- can't wait, so excited!

So what's the battery replacement cost after year 8?
I've seen people say 10-14 years for economic payoff from fuel saving, but not a battery replacement cost.
Just wondering if they tell you up front.

Does anyone really buy this car for ROI, or any car in this price class for ROI? I dont think so.

Who cares what the battery replacement in 10 years costs, its highly unlikely that people who buy any car in this price segment will own the car after 10 years.

Eh my business is booming and I needed to replace my 2007 Mustang GT due to age and imminent ICE repair/breaking issues. So it was either a luxury/sports BMW/Mercedes/Infinity/etc or Tesla Model S. The Model S is not much more expensive for the loadout I made (about 86k) and I got it financed for 1.49% over 6 years through Alliant. I am not planning on it being a money maker but considering it gets ~90 MPG and is FUN to drive I am very excited about it.

When talking battery cost they are up-front in saying they have no idea. If Musk actually gets the Gigafactory up & running the cost will drop rapidly so getting a replacement battery will not be a huge issue. Even if you do keep the car > 10 years (and not many people do that for cars in general) dropping ~10k on a 86K vehicle to make it "like new" is not that terrible really.

The bigger fear is what happens if TSLA fails, and I'm just not that worried about them failing at this point.

Oh yeah anyone have any good ideas for custom plates? Best I can come up with so far with A&M plates is TSLA*AG or or GIG*WAT.

Any ideas? The * shows as a little Texas shaped emblem on myplates.com.

I like the idea of buying a used car, especially one without a transmission, engine block, radiator, etc. but the cost of something like replacing the battery would need to get factored in. I'm curious how that will work out for these nicer EV cars. I can't afford one brand new (or rather dont want to spend that kind of money on a car), but for a $30-$40k used one I might be interested in a few years. If these are built decent which it seems they are then there should be many of them still on the road in 10 years.

only charging station that I have noticed is ITL H-E-B on West Alabame

HEB on sawdust at I-45 has one too. May be an HEB thing. Plug your car in for 45 mins and walk around shopping. Makes sense.

I joined Blink network for random public charging. Lots of stations in cities and TAMU has several in garages. But mostly just charge overnight from an RV plug in my car port or superchargers if I travel between cities.

So? 12 hour thoughts?

That's a badass car KidDoc! I always made fun of electric cars whenever I could but I was watching some youtube videos the other day on the Teslas and I came away actually wanting one. They're pretty amazing technology and the performace is shocking. I didn't know you could get the model S with 2 rear facing kid seats in the "trunk" area.
