Wow.

I backed into a guy when I was in school. It was legally my fault and we both knew it, but he also was smart enough to realize that he could have avoided it if he were paying attention.

I was backing through a parking lot slowly at night looking over my left shoulder, w/the parked cars on the right side of mine (I know, stupid to do it much less not look back and forth) and he backed out of his parking spot in his jet black car w/out looking to see if anyone was coming. If I'd been going forward instead of reverse it would have been his fault.

Anywhoo, he was cool as hell and we settled it in the parking lot w/out calling the police or anything. I gave him my insurance, etc etc.

He got multiple offers to fix his dented wheel well, took the cheapest that he felt was reliable, never contacted our insurance companies, and let me right him a check.
