Obviously the best choice:

This way I'd be able to go back or forward in time to escape the zombies/what-have-you monsters. Granted, the electronics are rather complex...

I would want a 68 Camaro 350 for quick getaway and easy to find parts.

I would need an old anything with 4 wheel drive and a solid body for collecting parts and running through mud/fallen trees/road disrepair/zombies/monsters.

Prefer a chevy 350 again for easy to find parts, or Ford 302, or dodge 318.

"Good doomsday/apocalypse vehicle"
"Assume we are in Texas"
"That's why I wanted a simple, older car with no computer chips etc."
"As for zombies"

ummm.. with all due respect Mr. Buck Turgidson, do you know something we don't know?

I'll be in my bunker if anyone needs me.

There are tons of Unimog variants almost all of the wine growers around here use them for up in the hills. I see at least 2-3 of them every day driving around Obertuerkheim or Untertuerkheim since all of the Vineyards are here.

However, yeah parts would be easy for me, not in Texas Id assume.

Gentlemen, I give you Texoma All Wheel Drive:

Unimog dealer in Decatur, TX. Buddy of mine used to rock-crawl with a stock '66 404 Unimog...I've met this guy in Decatur too, knows his stuff.

Guess it would be time for me to take the 1957 Jeep off the blocks in my shop and put it back on the road. All old school and I can work on it...

I did post when I went to the Unimog Museum last year when I was moving my crap from Aachen to Tuttlingen. I had a Mercedes E-Class Wagen with a Supercharger as my moving car lol

A few pics, they were already hosted, so I figure I posted them for yall last year

Unimog Museum is just off the A5 south of Karlsruhe in the direction of Baden-Baden or Basel. Its near the town of Gaggenau, where all the Unimogs are built. My wife and I took a detour through the Black Forest because the road from Karlsruhe over Pforzheim to Stuttgart is always under construction and jammed with traffic. Anyhow if you are even in Baden-Wuerttermberg, give it a visit.

I've changed my mind...rather have an old Unimog 404 rather than the John Deere.

Buck: Not as built but it probably could be without too much work.

It's used in West Texas...not much water out there

There was a book about this recently. The main character drove and Edsel because it didn't have the same type of alternator as other cars. Did Edsels have a generator?
CATAGBQ04

Up until the late 50's I believe all cars used to have generators instead of alternators.

Helicopter and tank would be good ideas, but Id hate to have to break into Fort Hood with all of the army zombies in order to get spare parts.

Or worse, some end of the world nut's bunker where hes a zombie with his 22 kids from 8 mothers who all believe hes zombie jesus.
