We'll know in a week or so why the city spent millions on the mlk bridge from campus to 121 to access UMHB property. Could soon be swapped for another property tax exempt entity.
lol i was wondering how long before the conspiracy theorists started in on this.
Why is it a conspiracy theory? Somewhere on this board is a thread about useless roads. I'm in there somewhere about the mlk bridge. It's useless. Unless you're UMHB and need access to the acreage you own a n 121, across Nolan Creek. That bridge brings no future income to the city. At all. Now, low and behold the church needs to sell their property and rebuild, but where? And who will buy the current property on main? OMG it just works out that UMHB has all this land in 121 and the property on main that the church owns would be a perfect swap. And look at the city council that made the decision to put tax payer dollars to work on a bridge that doesn't bring any income to the city. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm a realist and tired of being fleeced. The next time that church sends me letter reminding me my donations are down from years prior, I'll post it on Facebook and send it to a newspaper editor. I'm done. maybe the church should send letters to the 70% of members that give nothing, reminding them they give nothing. But I'd bet they don't do that.
Edit to add: the huge push a few years ago to pay off the debt of the new sanctuary. Not sure where that's at, but it's all falling into place. Nicely. At least school bonds are a tad more transparent.
