What are some good places to work out in Corpus? Gyms, athletic clubs, etc.

Isn't there also a Gold's opening up too?

Thanks Pete, that is one of the places on my list to check out.

CCAC is probably your best bet, other than the fact that Ol'Pete just wants to see ya in the showers.

I've heard/read that about him. That may keep me away from CCAC.

There is going to be a Gold's Gym in CC sometime, but not sure when. The people who own the Gold's in Laredo also own rights to the one in CC, but have not set a time frame for when they'll start building.

I think the Gold's is supposed to open late summer/early fall 2007. It is going to be past the HEB plus on Staples and Saratoga. Until then, the CCAC is probably the best bet. But if you want a cheap place, Planet Fitness on SPID/Staples... $10 per month.

how come no one said anything about Lynn's US Gym. it's right next to CCAC. it's basically an overgrown high school weight room.

- I don't know if I'll be going to Heaven or Hell, but I'll be going from Texas.
- Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you. If he's not, there's no need in embarrassing him.

is the CCAC normally pretty crowded around 6 or 7? do yall find yourselves having to wait a long time for machines?
Peter Gibbons

The CCAC has been crowded as f*** around 6-7 lately but that the case with any gym at the first of the year. I'm sure it will thin out as the month goes on and the slackers reclaim their laziness and quit on their new year's resolutions.

Generally Monday is the most crowded and it tapers off as the week progresses. I get there about 6ish and usually dont have to really wait for any significant time for any weight or cardio machine.

How about the good old YMCA downtown. I am there every morning and like it more than CCAC and Reaction Fitness.

Reaction actually have very nice equipment (and some nice scenery...) but they play that God-awful techno crap.

CCAC is relatively expensive but does a nice job of keeping up their equipment.

The "Y" is about to get a mjor face-lift and shoiuld be a lot nicer.

Back in high school, my friends and I worked out at the Y. A lot cheaper than CCAC and has decent facilities. It was also closer for us than CCAC since we didn't live on the southside. It does need a facelift though, glad they are going to do it!
