I was curious about you folks that live on the coast...what's the oddest thing you've seen? It can be somebody actually doing something odd or strange on the beach or in or around the water, or it can be something naturally occurring via the Ocean or something odd that was washed up. I was just curious.

After Ike we saw a dead alligator on the beach. The back half was just bones, the front half was whole.

did you get the skull?

I was on the beach at Rockport (not much of a beach) and at dusk saw a UFO.

When Sharkey's briefly opened a 2nd bar in Rockport, I saw a woman with no front teeth and a shirt that said "I swallow".

Was on PINS many years ago surf fishing and within 10 minutes and 50 yards of each other, two dead coyotes floated up on the beach. I don't know if someone shot them and they just washed in or they drowned or what. They didn't appear to have any wounds. Just slightly bloated and dead. Very weird.

I want to hear more about this UFO.

AHHHH yes, the old "velveteen rub". There is nothing better. I have been trying to get my wife to have her teeth pulled for the past few years. no luck yet.....

Deer on the sand dunes at the edge of the beach. I'm a city boy, and I was always under the impression that deer live in the woods. The deer on Padre Island love the beach...that's a wierd fact to me.

When I was young, my grandfather and I used to go to the beach early in the morning to get wood that he could use for different crafts that he would make and sale.

One morning, a guy was fishing and a coyote came out of the dunes...walked straight up to the guy and stole the fish that he had just caught.

The guy did not ever seem to notice who took the fish as he was looking for it a few minutes later when he turned around and it was gone.

PIAG, I think I see deer just about everytime I am on the island. I've also seen pigs close to Port A.




Have you seen the old line camps on the island? The most northern one is at the turn off to bird island. The other 3 are south, every 15 miles. The 2nd northern one still has the posts marking out the corrals, a couple of miles north of Yarborough.

I've seen those old camps many times. I've heard that racoons and coyotes will steal fish or food on the island if you don't secure them.

I would bet that from Rockport to Tivoli is one of the most pig-heavy areas in Texas. The ANWR is absolutely chalked full of pigs.

the snow was amazing! other than that ive seen the above mentioned toothless woman... actually, if you are in to people with horrible teeth the coast seams to be the place to go. i once saw a school of possums swimming across the canal. that was crazy. little tails swiveling like snakes.

When I was little, a barge washed up on the beach in Galveston. I've also seen a dead dolphin wash up by the 91 street fishing pier.

Was driving my Majek down the Intracoastal Canal one evening just before sunset, just South of Charlie's (between Seadrift and POC) and saw several black bumps moving in the water. Almost hit one.

Come to find out they were Buffalo swimming from Dewberry Island to the mainland. Later, they walked through our camp system at Sholwater Flats Association. Fences mean nothing to those animals. The leaders would just walk right over them and the rest would follow.

I saw a road kill ocelot, about 13-15 years ago, a few miles north of there where 35 goes through the Guadelupe river bottom wildlife area.

Wow...beach pigs...sounds like a new line of clothing for my ex-wife!!!

I once saw a bear walking on the beach at Galveston!!

Many years ago, we were about to get in and surf by the flagship when a dead bum was spotted washing up on shore.

Shark fishing on the 37th St. groin in Galveston years ago. Drunk stumbled out close to the end then walked right off the side, falling onto the rocks and into the water.

A capsized catamaran about 50ft out from shore along the seawall in Galveston, that required a helicopter rescue.

Hurricane bear makes me laugh every time.

Huge bull shark swimming between some wade fishermen and the shore.
