My family has visited Galveston about 30 of the last 35 years for a little summer getaway and are trying to decide if we should this year.

I would like to know the status (since the hurricane) of the following things we enjoy? Thanks in advance!!

1)beaches on seawall, Stewart Beach
2)Is the ferry to Crystal Beach operable? Does Crystal Beach still exist?
3)Caseys? Joe's (Pier 19), The Spot
4)Moody Gardens
5)Le Kings on the Strand and the rest of the Strand

Thanks again.

Pretty much everything that is on the seawall has reopened. Pretty much everything that extended from the seawall over the gulf is gone. The beaches look great. A ton of sand has been brought in. Some of the establishments on Stewart Beach are gone.

The ferry is running. Don't know the status of Crystal Beach, but that area was demolished.

Casey's and the Spot are open. Joe's on the seawall is open. I believe the one on Pier 19 closed before the storm and may be another restaurant now.

Everything at Moody Gardens has reopened.

Pretty sure that LA Kings has not reopened. I'm guessing about 40% or so of the shops on The Strand have reopened, but I haven't been down there recently.

Ships Wheel, Tiki Bar, Stingaree, La Plaita, Coconuts, and The Big Store are now open on the peninsula. Usually have 2 ferries running. Approx 2 hour wait coming or going is the norm. Still have a long way to go on the peninsula, but its getting better !

La King's is coming back but is not open yet. There is nothing in the building that was Joe's on Pier 19.

Ferry still works and Crystal Beach/Bolivar is slowly coming back to life.
Worth a drive over there as far as Gilchrist if you know how it looked before.
Stingaree restaurant in Crystal Beach is open.

LaKings is reopening--not sure of date.

The beach at Stewart Beach is fine.

There is actual beach along the sea wall that they hauled in this spring. It is about a football field wide. Go see it before mother nature takes it away.

Moody Garden got everything reopened this past week.

so stewart beach is up and running and new sand at the sea wall. what about those pocket beaches a bit further west? i've got little kids and the bathrooms would be pretty helpful. i'd like to get down there and have the kids enjoy the beach.

is stewart pretty much my only choice if i need a restroom for the kiddos?

and man i want la kings to reopen before i go.

According to the Park Board website, the pocket parks are still closed. Haven't been down that way lately to verify that though.

Your kids need restrooms when swimming in the Gulf?
