Seems like there is a grass-roots push to get him to throw his hat in. JJ Gottsch (GM of the Hooks - friend of Nolan Ryan)) is circulating an email letter that is aimed at jump-starting a campaign.

There is no doubt that Adame is extremely competent...and not really in the "network"....I kinda like the idea.

this is how grassroots it is: Gottsch's wife is selling condos for Adame's downtown loft project.

So what you have is Adame getting the husband of one of his employees to try to get people to send emails to Joe asking him to run.

That is not very grassroots.

That being said, Garrett is a real nice guy but has the leadership qualities of a mute armadillo. The council has been a pack of babbling idiots the last few years and need someone who can get them on track.

I know Adame a little bit and he might be the guy to do it but I don't know him that well--a little real estate negotiating re a lease is all. But he is well thought of in the business community.

I know Joe. I went to HS and College with his son Chris.

It is kinda funny....the letter was circulated through a guy that works for Adame. Sounds like Joe said really loud at a dinner party...i think i would be a great mayor.

Agree with everything you said on Garrett. Nice guy...no control.

I still wish Lloyd Neal was avaialable. Good guy with the ability to wrangle the morons on the council.

I don't think it all comes down to who is Mayor of CC. The same City Counci and City Manager will still be there regardless Joe Adame, Bryan Smith, or Peter Gibbons is mayor.

It amazes me that Garrett was actually the Police Chief at one point in time. His leadership skills are lacking to the point where they're missing. IMHO, he's a lacky and a yes man and, as mayor, doesn't make a lick of difference.

I'm sure Joe would be an improvement, especially since I could get my ideas to him a lot easier, but NOT having a mayor would be an improvement to Garrett being the mayor.

There is something special about a man who isn't too proud to walk around town picking up trash and trying to make his community better. CC is our home and we need to take care of it by electing Joe Adame for Mayor. I find him intelligent and articulate; pleasant to talk to. Most importantly, he has very good leadership qualities. It is time for a change. It's time for Adame.

Let Change begin in our hearts.

any idea where he would lead us to?

So far I see a vague promise of leadership; and he says he is for "progress." I feel much better knowing that.

Sometimes having them just flopping around on the ground to no effect is better than having them do something.

Henry was a good police chief because he didn't rock the boat and was liked by most of the department; not for what he did but for the fact that he did not seem threatening to anybody. That is not a good recipe for mayor of this very disunited city.

In other words...he didn't do jacksh** and let everybody do as they pleased...a.k.a. shi**y leader.

JOE ADAME FOR MAYOR!!!

Peter, consider who came before Garrett and who came after and then tell me he was a bad police chief. He was what was needed at the time and I think most of the people on the force at the time would agree. I can guarantee you they mostly longed for him when Alvarez was chief.

As I pointed out, the virtues that made him a good chief do not serve us well as mayor.

And what is Adame for, besides "leadership" and "progress?" I am still waiting to hear and hope it is something that is an improvement.

Having attended some city council meetings, I am not optimistic that this pack of idiots can be lead anywhere we want to go.

I want to vote for Adame but am in the dark as to what he wants to do.

Hopeful but not optimistic.

LLoyd Neal was a good mayor. Garrett is not good.

The City Council and City Manager are very iffy in my opinion. The way they give, errrrr, hired Escobar was a freaking joke and WAY unprofessional/unethical. Since Joe has never served/worked for the City of CC maybe his ideas of hope and change can actually be achieved w/o all the 'good ole' boy's' network BS.

I personally think Joe Adame would be a great Mayoral candidate. He gets my vote.

I don't want to vote for Henry G but Joe Adame is not giving me much reason to vote for him except that he is not Garrett. That may be enough but going to joerunjoe.gov, his website, is not inspiring.

He is Obamishly vague and the only thing I can see for sure is that he is in favor of streamlining the development process, which is a good idea but not of any great importance to me or most other people in town.

He also seems to favor smiling, better personnel with the city, better morale among city employees---but a more effective evaluation system would not likely put any smiles on the faces of the many incompetents who work for the city.

On the question of what to do with the coliseum he says it is a shame there was not a plan in place when it was effectively abandoned and he is against using $5 million to fund the presentation now on the table. Does that mean he is in favor of tearing it down? That would cost close to a million and he doesn't say where that cash comes from.

I guess we need to look at who is giving the two main candidates money in order to figure out what they are actually up to, since both are artfully vague about their intentions.
