I heard it through the grapevine that Darrek Farrell, Class of '08, was hired as the city manager in Commerce. City Manager at age 29 is a good get.
Commerce is kind of in chaos right now. Their fire department makes a fraction of those in similar sized cities and even surrounding smaller towns. Their fire chief recently died suddenly (the best man for that job is already a captain on the FD with the initials JC).
On the plus side, besides the great fire chief candidate, there are numerous openings for department heads within the city government. You can come in and hire a bunch of good people and really make Commerce a better place. If you find money like you did in your previous stops, it will be a good start.
