Does anyone know or can recommend a draftsman in the Palestine/East Texas area? We are going to be building a house soon outside of Palestine and have very good idea of what we want. We just need someone who can put it on paper for us.

You might try Max Slicker at JMS Architect/Design in Tyler. He's an Aggie married to an Aggie wife (his wife grew up in Palestine). I know he does a lot of draft work on/for homes but I'm not sure if he does exactly what you're looking for. Just ask him though and he'll tell you whether it's in your best interest to work with him or not.... He's as honest as the day is long.

If you're trying to find his number I can't remember if he offices in Tyler or Bullard. Google is probably your friend but if you have trouble tracking him down, hit me back on here and I'll get contact info for you.

Max is in Tyler now? Max is a good guy. I used to play indoor with him and his wife.

If I was back in Tyler I would take you up on it but it's a heck of a drive from San Antonio right now :/

Yeah he moved back probably 8 years ago or so. Worked for a guy for a few years, then spun out an started his own in '09 or '10 maybe? It's been a really good move for him....he's stayed extremely busy and is doing well for himself!

If you are still interested, my Father and I run a custom home building business. We operate as General Contractors on high end custom houses located mostly on Lake Cherokee outside of Longview. We design almost every house we build from the ground up. We have designed many houses for people that we didn't build because they live outside of our area as well. We can do floor plans, elevations, 3Ds, and material takeoffs. It really just depends on what you need, but we will deliver a build-able set of plans. We can also consult on the building process and review the plans with your builder.

My father has been building houses for approximately 20 years and I've worked with him on and off (due to school and working other jobs) since I was a child. We use Softplan Architectural software which is optimized for residential construction.
