I just got a job offer in Tyler and I need to find a place to live. I have only been to tyler once so I know nothing about the town and am open to any advice as to where and where not to live.

What age are you? Where are you going to work? Price range? Only an apartment? Or open to a house/duplex? Married? Kids?

Single/26/no kids/ as for price and location I am open on that as I would prefer good area to live and wouldn't mind a commute/higher rent. I will be working right by 69 and 323

Duplex would be fine I have a feeling that a house would be a little big for me. As well my job will require lots of travel so I won't always be home or have a real set schedule.

Pockets of new apartments all over Tyler- it is growing. 1BR in newer ones will run 7 to 8. More for 2BR. Guy off Haverhill on Mobley has nice brand new duplexes for 11- and rents only to professionals- several Ags already. Lots of young people, but look for TJC stickers at apts, they are not so bad , but the young scene is new to Tyler, so undesirables tend to come off the little towns and east Dallas to stay for awhile. I can get duplex phone if you are interested- he is nice guy.

If you want to go on the cheap end - The Woodlands at Grande/Broadway is actually pretty good. I have a few friends that live there and they like it. Won't be impressive from the street though.

Harverhill Place is a new one thats kind of off the path. Good apartments.

Be warry of the new ones on Old Jacksonville. The ones i've seen have shoddy construction and they've rented out to subsidized housing.

Stay away from anything near UT Tyler. It's like new jack city over there.

Hunter Glenn isn't bad. When you say 69 and 323 so you mean 69 north or south?

What floor plan were you in and what was the price (if you don't mind saying)

I've been looking at them online but they don't have prices up and im not to the point where I've been in the mood to call or visit places yet. Just online shopping right bow

I talked to some one at the mansions for a 1/1 600 square feet they wanted 840 plus you only had Washer dryer connections you would have to rent a W/D I you wanted one.

Lots of apartments have the connections but don't provide the w/d. That was always the case for me when I rented apts in Dallas.

That's about the price of a decent-nice 2/1 in North Dallas 10 years ago. Doesn't seem that far off the mark for one of the nice places in Tyler.

I would say w/d connection only is the norm for Tyler.

If you'd like to buy a used (but in good shape) washer/dryer, I'll have a set available in March.
