I'm traveling around the Tyler-Kilgore-Marshall area for a week. My goal is to find the best BBQ, Burgers, and Home cooked meals I possibly can. Any ideas on where to start and go?

Stanley's BBQ for lunch in Tyler

Graffiti has most of your bases covered, but as far as burgers..... The Back Porch in Kilgore has a pretty good one. The best burger I've had in a long time was at the Burger Barn in Tatum..... Intersection of 149 and 43.
I second Stanley's. It's also open for dinner now. I think their ribs have passed up the Tavern too.
Stanleys....period.

If you're looking for a pretty good breakfast joint there's a place on the south edge of Tyler called The Diner. Great breakfast, reasonable price.
And I second Bruno's for a great local pizza joint.

Another breakfast recommendation: Mama's on 5th street. It's a hole in the wall, but it's pretty good. They also have Mexican breakfast such as migas, huevos rancheros, etc...
The diner is pretty good too though. I flip flop between the two when I have the urge for a big breakfast.

Its in that tiny strip center where Joe's Italian used to be. Across the street and a block or two west of Jucy's and Posados. 3-4 blocks west of the loop and the new El Charro.
Juicy's burgers are alright, but they must load their food with MSG cause every time I eat there my blood pressure shoots through the roof and for three hours can't drink enough water. (And this is w/out putting any salt on my food there!
I agree aggiebrewer but you just opened up a can of worms similar to the Houston vs Dallas debates in other forums.

I fell in love with Stanley's. I've been twice.
First Time: I had the Rib Plate..... Probably the best ribs I've ever had.
Second time: I got the Pork Brother in Law and the Brother in Law and that's it (not the jumbo though) and they were amazing

Jucy's is alright, Smashburger was better.
Also went to Mercado's (sp?)..... Really good.

Stanley's is the bees' knees. Country Tavern is the most over rated place I've ever been, not to mention over priced.
Drove in from Kilgore to go to Stanley's again..... I'm addicted.

Welcome to our world buddy! I'm not as much of a BBQ nut as some in the state, but it has to be one of the most underrated places in the state.
Been to Don Juan's and won't go back there again. Prefer Mercado's, may not be great but certainly does not suck.

I'd like to think y'all for your help. I had a wonderful eating experience. I'll have to come back to Stanley's about once a month. It's absolutely wonderful that towns like Tyler, Marshall, and Kilgore (and Longview) have many local places that you can get a good meal.
