One of the best things East Texas has going for it is the barbecue, so instead of having threads mentioning barbecue spread out all over the place, I thought I would consolidate it all into one place for easier browsing. I will get it started with the places I have been, heard about, or taken from other threads on Texags, but please post below with the name of the place you like, the city, and what they do well. For Bodacious, just mention the location you like, as I think they are pretty inconsistent from location to location. If you would like to add anything to the ones I have listed, feel free. If there is no info listed on a place below, and you have been, please comment on it as any info that is left blank is a place I have heard about, but not been. I will keep this edited to have it all at the top. Here we go (In alphabetical order by city):

Bob's in Henderson has really good ribs. I also have to stop at Neely's in Marshall and get a brown pig every time I go home to visit.

City: Longview - other various locations...but referring to the one on The Loop in L'view

Other notes: I would bathe in their BBQ sauce

Note: I don't think Bodacious is the best in the world, but I grew up on it and love it still. I was excited when I found one in Arlington a few years ago.

Grew up eating beef and link poboys at mikes in nac. Still go there every time I am back in nactown. Probably not the best but still really delicious.

His brothers place, the bbq house, is also really good.

Mt. Pleasant-

Petes- Not a "pure" BBQ place (they also do pizza and salads) but their BBQ is pretty awesome

i like the BBQ Pete (BBQ Chicken Sandwich) and the Chopped Beef. they also do the Squealer - a very good pulled pork sandwhich that has a more "Southern" BBQ sauce.

Also Oulaws (formally Bodacious). They mimic Bodacious in a lot of ways. sauce is not exactly the same, but close enough. Anything smoked there is excellent. i always lean to chopped or sliced beef though.

Pete's has GREAT sandwiches. Everytime I've been there I come away impressed.

Bodacious changed their name? When did that happen?

Bodacious changed their name on Jan 1. Basically, the guy that owned it retired and sold it to his daughter (who owns outlaws in Daingerfield)

I liked the Bodacious in Mt P. The older guy and his wife had been there as long as I had been going.

Tried out Flint BBQ today (corner of 346 and Old Jacksonville....just south of Tyler).

This place has been around for about 3 months according to the owner. Betting it won't make it. The sausage was good....the slaw was good....but the brisket and potato salad were as bad as any I've had in a restaraunt. I seriously wondered if they were serving me brisket that was leftover from Tuesday, but then I remembered that when we have leftover brisket from our cookouts, it's still good-great after being in the fridge for a bit.

I like sauce from time to time with my brisket, but when I'm trying out a new place I like to try the meat both ways. You honestly couldn't eat this stuff without a ton of sauce because of how dry it was.

I feel bad for restaraunts trying to make it because I know how hard that business can be. Betting this one doesn't last long.

Anyone else been there yet or tried it out?

The BBQ House in Nac is pretty spectacular. It's just like Mike's in that you better be ready to go into a coma when you leave.

I had lunch at Stanleys in Tyler today. I'm normally more of a pork fan (sausage, ribs, pulled pork), but I got the brisket today, and it was incredible. I'm not going to be as bold as to say its the best I've ever had, but its the best I've had in recent memory.

Big Smith's BBQ in between Sulpher Springs and Yantis. Total dive, but AMAZING all-you-can-eat beef ribs on the weekends.

Wagon Wheel used to be great in Lufkin in the 70s and 80s.

Fresh chopped beef on that butcher block, good stuff.

I went thru Daingerfield twice around 2002 or so and stopped at Outlaws for lunch both times. Both times got a chopped beef sandwich which ranks as some of the best tasting BBQ I have ever consumed. Sauce was outstanding.

Wills Point - Cowboys. Mainly the brisket. Its a small place and be prepared to talk to local cowboys when there. Not open on certain days, maybe Monday?

Yeah I'm gonna have to say you need to make it the BBQ House on Stallings for Nacogdoches.

Beef and Link Po Boy all the way.

It's similar to Mikes, but BBQ House is better.
