Texarkana just flat out sucks.

Ultra, speaking as someone from that area, I can tell you that most of the people in that area don't suck. And, there are a lot of good Ags in that area. Rather narrow-minded of you.

I used to live in Texarkana (went to PG). I know the area very well.

I still have family that live in T town and visit them often.

In fact my picture is hanging on the wall of the Applebee's. Not employee of month, but I was here when that one of the first chain restaurants in town. There was a 2 hour wait for a table. I know that the town has grown since I have left, but I still am not fond of it at all.

Its not being narrow minded, it’s just my opinion.

1) Not appreciative of the "v" reference rover. Are you still in 7th grade biology?

2) I would imagine-- without actually having performed a study on the subject-- that the percentage of sucky people to nonsucky people in the Texarkana area is about the same as it is anywhere. There are people that suck everywhere. Texarkana is no worse than anywhere else.

3) Although this is merely an example of the Aggies in the area, I can think of at least six people from my graduating class (high school and A&M) that are back in that area, doing well for themselves and raising their families. Oh, and they don't suck. I know six isn't that many, but considering the size of my high school class, it's a fairly high number.

4) Ultra-- congrats on the pic at Applebee's that is quite an accomplishment. The "narrow minded" reference was based upon your statement that, essentially, everyone and everything about the entire area sucks. It is a broad, sweeping statement that does nothing but continue to perpetuate a negative attitude about the area. Begs the question: since everyone sucks, does that also apply to your family that you visit so frequently? How about your friends that still live there?

5) I am thrilled that the area is starting to see some economic development-- it needs it and has for quite some time. I would think that anyone that is from there or has ever lived there would feel similarly. It can only serve to benefit your families that still live there.

Here's how to conduct that study in about 4 minutes. Take State Line to Arkansas BLVD.

Turn into the Wal-Mart. In your study notes, you will document that the place is overrun by Arkansas dipchits.

I will grant you that the Arkansas side is less than desirable but it is not the WHOLE city/Texarkana area. Your Wal-Mart argument will hold true in any city/town in North America, it is not exclusive to Texarkana and it is certainly not indicative of the entire city's population. A certain element of society always has and always will flock to Wal-Mart.

Re the 6 aggies that I know: you did not read what I said correctly. I know many more than 6 that live there. Merely giving you an example from MY graduating class. Not saying that is all of the Aggies I know in the Texarkana area.

Yes, I live in Texarkana and I know LOTS of aggies in Texarkana. Just go to Muster if you do not believe me. No one from Oklahoma can say any city in Texas sucks, even if part of it is in Arkansas!

1. The pic ref. was me showing everyone that the town has very little to go on. It has grown in size but still has little to offer.

2. Maybe everything in town does not suck, TLC has some of the best burgers in the world, but after that what’s left? Nothing.

3. My friends that still live there suck, all they do is go to Fat Jacks or Shooters and get into fights. The majority of my "family" that lives there are my ex in-laws so yes they do suck.

Texarkana is flooded on the weekends with people from South East Oklahoma and north east Arkansas. They come to that god awful town to go the "mall", which sucks or to the Super Wal Mart.

Hell one of the largest employers in the town is the Federal Maximum Prison and the Red River Ammo Dump.

I do live in OKC for right now and I have to say its not that bad. There are lots of things to do and many good bars, but it is in Oklahoma so you have to detract points for that.

yes- visit T-town and judge for yourself if it does indeed suck. Personally, I don't think it sucks. It's a great place. It's a shotload better than Sherman. Doesn't compare much to College Station though, but then again- what other town similar in size does? Good luck with the pending move.

You could do what lots of other folks do-- - live in De Kalb and make the 30 minute commute.

Hudgy, you will not recognize it if you have not visited in a while. I-30 is a mess right now due to one of the largest road projects awarded in East Texas. With the expansion of I-49 and I-69, Texarkana's population could triple in the next 10 to 20 years. Look on a map of the United States, and every city that has two major highways running through it has a population of at least 150k.

For me, if all the television stations weren't in Shreveport- I would give moving back a lot of thought.
