I need some advice. I am hoping my fellow Ags in East Texas can help.
I've got a divorced friend whose kids are now living with him, but his ex-wife in the divorce was awarded custody of them. He's still paying child support to her. He tried to file the papers to get custody in Gregg County. He walked away with the indication that he had to get a lawyer there to do this.
He called a lawyer in Longview. The guy stated that he needed 2.5K before he would do anything. Is this the going rate?
Does any one have a recommendation for a lawyer?
We are in the DFW area, so he doesn't know where to go for help. He's supporting the 3 kids and still paying the ex, so he knows that needs to change.
What advice can you give my friend?
