Well Al'raht, Al'raht, Al,raht (said in my best David Wooderson voice), things are cranking up, right when we don't need it.

This small depression or whatever it is in the Gulf will bring some needed rain, and that is about it.

The more sinister situation is that Gonzalo storm way out south east of Barbados. That is a down low Caribbean tracking storm and historically that is where storms that hit Southern Texas and Northern Mexico form and track. We will see.

Gonzalo might be torn apart (or at least weakened) in the Caribbean and if it is I would think it would give it a better chance to get west towards us. We will see. So far away.

Ha AccuWeather just said some local spots might get up to 16-18 inches. That would be a big time disaster for some of our poorer areas.

Yeah they're in the bullseye. I would expect gusts over 70 there for sure, maybe much higher if it's strengthening as it makes landfall. When a storm hits perpendicular like this the frictional effects of land usually tightens up the eye and pumps those winds up as it makes landfall.

We've had some pretty good bands go through Harlingen the last 30 minutes or so. Channel 5 is showing a gust to 52 here.
